CARY LEE WILLIAMS

Cary Lee Williams "A Beautiful Soul" Cary Lee Williams was born in El Centro, CA., on June 18, 1940. He passed away September 8, 2010 from a serious virus at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. Grandpa graduated Calexico High School in 1958 where he met his wife, Estella Banke. He served in the Navy from 1958-1962 proudly on the USS Currituck as an electrician and airplane tender. He worked at the FAA as an electrician from his experiences while in the Navy, until he retired in 1988. After knowing Grandma for four years in high school and his four years in the Navy, they decided to marry when he came home in 1962 from an honorable discharge. He started a new life with Grandma and had four beautiful children who love him every second of their lives. He was fortunate enough to celebrate his 48th year of marriage to Grandma on August 15, 2010. Grandpa was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Claude Herrick (step father), and Pete Williams. He is survived by his two brothers, Danny and Pete Williams, as well as Grandma and four children: Diane Fairbourne, Cleburn, Kathy (Scott) Yeates, Michael (Lisa) and honorary son, Steve Yeates. His seven grandchildren and eight great -grandchildren feel incredibly blessed to know such a wonderful man. We have cherished his stories of growing up on a farm and serving in the Navy. He also had 2 dogs that he loved deeply and treated as his own kids: Little Wiggins and Re-Pete. He had countless friends that love and will miss him dearly. Grandpa was a very loving man who dedicated his life to making others happy. He never based his actions on what others did. He had an original and unique personality that was unaffected by the pressures of society; he lived by his own rules. His unfinished novel, "Who Dare Awaken Me," was based on his views of life and how society got its "norms." He was a licensed hypnotist and loved to practice on his family. He was always curious and wanting to learn, filling his retired lifetime to hobbies and projects. We are left with his unforgettable memories. We each hold a piece of him in our heart and always will. Grandpa's final honorary discharge will be Monday, September 13, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
