1976 ~ 2021

Chad lost his battle with cancer after fighting for 3 ½ years but won the war on July 12, 2021. At age 44 he passed away peacefully, at his home in Riverton, Utah. He was born six weeks early on July 17, 1976 to Ray and Vicky Moore. He lived an idyllic childhood with the Bitterroot Boys in Taylorsville. He graduated from Cottonwood High School, as a Sterling Scholar in 1995. He was forever blessed and honored to serve a mission in the Hungary Budapest Mission from 1995-1997. He started and nurtured several friendships that lasted throughout his life. It was the best 2 years of his life until he met his sweetheart, Melanie Speirs, his soul mate. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 7, 2001 and together were raising their three amazing sons.

He graduated from the University of Utah with his Master's Degree in Accounting, Cum Laude. Chad's career included working in public accounting. Over the last 10 years he has worked in accounting and finance at Utah Housing. His current position was VP of Financial Analysis.

Chad was loved by ALL who knew him. He dedicated his life to his family and helping others. Chad's positive, happy attitude was infectious. He was the most selfless person, always putting everyone's needs before his own. He used humor to lighten the severity of his difficult circumstance. His smile was contagious. He loved hiking, fishing, camping, snowboarding, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

Chad is survived by his wife Melanie, three sons, Seth, Luke and Wesley, and by his parents Ray and Vicky Moore.

When I first started at Utah Housing, Chad spent countless hours training and teaching me, all while battling his cancer. This same spirit of commitment lived on throughout all my years working with him at Utah Housing. He was a spectacular mentor, professional, and individual. His example will forever have an impact on my life and career.

Chad was an amazing co-worker. He had the ability to dissect a problem and figure out resolutions. He knew the importance of balancing work and home-life. He shared some wonderful stories about Seth, Luke, and Wes. He was so proud of Melanie´s creativity. I learned a great deal from Chad in the 10 years we worked together and I am forever changed because of it. He will always be a part of our UHC family.

This is heartbreaking. You've always been so supportive and caring of me and so many others, I'm so sorry for the loss and I'm sure you're feeling many things right now. I pray you and your kids will sense when he is near you, even if you cannot see him, I'm sure he'll be there for you. Stay close to God and you'll be close to Chad.

Chad, Melanie and the boys were our next door neighbors in Sandy, before moving to Riverton. They are an incredible family-a couple so well complimented with darling boys whom we love! We, along with our married children, are so very sorry that Chad passed away. He is such a great example of strength, enthusiasm, courage and kindness. We always think of Chad as a glass completely full kind-of-a-guy!! Chad will be missed-along with his great smile! We love you, Melanie, Seth, Luke and Wes... Kerry and Cammy Spendlove and family
