Charles Kay Obituary

Charles Albert Kay "Al"  Charles Albert Kay passed away August 18, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah after suffering several difficult years with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born May 21, 1915 to George and Priscilla Hindle Kay in South Cottonwood, Utah. His mother died one half hour after his birth. He has been waiting a long time to be reunited with her. He married Helen Lyle Turner, September 7, 1935 in Salt Lake City; solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple May 29, 1949; later divorced. Married Phyllis L. Gehring, August 19, 1968. Al and Phyllis served five missions at the Family History Library and two years for Member Locators. He loved to dance and travel, and was a Mesa, Arizona snowbird for 26 years. He was a bread driver for Holsom, Betsy Ross and Peter Pan bakeries for 32 years and retired in 1975. Al is survived by his wife of 35 years, Phyllis; children, Carolyn and Wayne Guest; Vaughn and Betty Kay and Joyce and Jessie Gonzales; stepchildren, Dennis and Nelda Gehring, Bonnie Thompson and Barbara and C.B. Burnette; nieces and nephews; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grand-children; seven great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; son, David; three brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where friends may call Saturday, 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
