Holladay, Utah - Cola Dawn Larsen, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren, many of whom gathered to hold her hand as she embarked on her journey home.
Born on September 17, 1939, in Nephi, Utah, Cola was the cherished daughter of Samuel Paul and Bessie Memmott of Scipio. She spent her early years in Scipio with sisters Karma and Darla and brother Craig before the family relocated to Salt Lake City. A proud graduate of East High School, she remained a loyal Leopard throughout her life.
Cola began her career as a buyer and model for Castleton's department store and later worked at ZCMI, where she met the love of her life, Alton Royal Larsen Jr. they were married on March 27, 1961. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised six children in their beloved Cottonwood home on Applewood Avenue.
Her life was one of unwavering devotion-to her Savior Jesus Christ and her parents, in-laws, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of nieces and nephews. Summers were filled with joy at Lake Powell and Park City, where family memories were made. An avid tennis player, Cola played in a cherished foursome with dear friends for decades. She and Al were also part of a study group of couples that met faithfully for over 60 years.
Cola's greatest joy came with the arrival of her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nan" or "Nanny." She was their biggest fan, attending every event, performance, and milestone with pride and enthusiasm.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cola served faithfully in many callings, including Primary teacher, chorister, Young Women's leader, Boy Scout den mother, Relief Society President and Temple worker. Her beautiful singing voice graced many choirs and a beloved ward quartets.
Cola is survived by her children: Alesa (George) Allen, Brad Larsen, Matt (Tracy) Larsen, Spencer (Jodene) Larsen, Ty (Amber) Larsen, and Lindsay (Travis) Schmidt. Her legacy lives on in her 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Bluffdale Ninth Ward, 14650 S. 3200 W., Bluffdale, Utah.
Cola's life was a testament to love, faith, and joyful service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered

Cola Dawn was a dear high school friend. She and her husband always came to our East High Christmas a'capella parties. I will greatly miss her, but happy to know she's reunited with her husband! How blessed we are to know Heavenly Father's Plan!

We vividly remember our first Sac. Mtg in Holladay First ward. A baby to be blessed and after, a man came walking up the aisle with rose, giving it to his wife. Later, we came to know them as Al and Cola. Wonderful people in the neighborhood. Cola was a beautiful lady.

I don´t remember my life without Cola Dawn in it! Cola and my mom were best friends since childhood! My mom went to elementary school, Highschool, and college with Cola. They got married around the same time and raised kids together. They played tennis together. My mom did study group with Cola. They did lunch and went shopping. They had many long phone calls with each other. They were the best of friends. I always knew my mom loved Cola.
As I child I remember thinking I would name one of my own children Cola Dawn because I loved her name and because I loved her. She was always so wonderful and kind to me. I have the most beautiful wedding quilt that she made for me. Cola always talked to me and was interested in what I was doing. She is a beautiful person and has the kindest soul!! My kids even know and love Cola Dawn. When I told them that that she had passed away they said "oh I bet Grandma is rejoicing in heaven to have her bestie back!"
