Dave and I shared many good times, right from the day he was born. We played together, we talked a lot, we lectured in schools together, we got in armor and beat on each other (He always got the best of me there), and I miss him every day.

Dave and I had some very wonderful times lecturing in schools around the Salt Lake Valley on the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Shakespeare. We did them for free because he and I both thought that if we could get students to realize that learning can be fun and you can have fun with it, then we were paid. And we were paid every time. We did the lectures in costume, took weapons and pieces of armor and a slide presentation. The teachers always told us that after we were there, English and History grades went up as did the use of the Library. Dave was always ready to go with me to the schools and enjoyed doing them as much (and possibly even more) as I did. It was a great time and I miss being able to do them with him again. He was always coming up with something new and trying to surprise me and we would get a good laugh out of it. We laughed a lot.

Dave was my younger brother and my best male friend. I watched him grow from a young child to an awesome man, person, husband and father.
I have always been proud of Dave and not a day goes by that I don't remember some fun thing we did throughout our lives.
I miss him, love him, and look forward to seeing him again when it's my time to go.

Dave (Carl) was a dear friend, and soul whose humor and quick wit will be sorely missed. Our love goes out to Liz, Katie, and Brendan.
Thank you Carl for being a part of our lives.

Liz, Katie and Brendan,
I remember watching Katie (she had just learned to walk) with Carl and how he and Liz beamed at their darling new toddler.
My heart goes out to you all. Sending my love and concern and deepest condolences.
Love,
Katie Parker Stapleton
