8/24/1962 ~ 1/26/2012
Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from complications sustained in a fall. David was born August 24, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Don Jay and Shanna Lee S. Smith. He graduated from Hillcrest High in 1980. In his youth, he received his Eagle Scout, and excelled in motocross racing. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He received his 2 year degree in Aeronautics from Salt Lake Community College and his Real Estate License. David worked at Plaza Cycle for many years. He was employed by Stock Building Supply for over ten years. David married Jennifer Fuller-Zuspan on November 18, 2000. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Hannah and Hailey, who were the love of his life. David enjoyed being Mr. Mom as he cared for his children while supporting his wife through nursing school. He enjoyed doing things with his family, camping in the outdoors, tinkering with electronics and helping others. David was the "go to" man in the family. He was always there for others, helping out with anything they needed. He was a kind caring family man, generous with his time, talents and resources. He loved being part of a large extended family. David had a very special relationship with his parents and was always there to help them when they needed it. There are no words to express how deeply he will be missed.
David is survived by his wife, Jennifer Smith and their children Hailey and Hannah Smith and Kendall Zuspan; his parents Don and Shanna Lee Smith; his brothers and sisters Catherine Johanson, Steve (Lori) Smith, Craig (Norma) Smith, Sharon Poulsen, Gary (Myndi) Smith and Amy (Tim) Hale and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother-in-law J.D. Poulsen.
A funeral service will be held at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 Highland Dr.) on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to come to a celebration of Dave's life on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm or on Tuesday morning, one hour before the funeral service.
