Donald Garner Obituary

Donald Mack Garner
1945~2012
Saratoga Springs, UT-Our Friend, Brother, Dad, Papa and Sweetheart nobly finished this side of his journey November 20th 2012.
Don walked the path of service - devoted to his family, his friends and his country. He was a United States Navy veteran and a retired Salt Lake County Sheriff.
Born June 28, 1945 to Walter Mack and Bessie Parry Garner (both deceased). Married to Debbie (Birdsall) Garner, celebrating 35 years together. Blessed by his treasures, his pride and joy, his beloved Children and Grandchildren: Jeanne (Mike) O'Connor (Sean, Meagan, Erin & Ailee); Heather Garner (Bella Don), Justin (Mikala) Garner (Tuck), Bradley (Malori) Garner.
He is the brother of Dick (Karen) Garner, Sheryl (Larry) Thompson and Karee (George) Marinos, Brother-in-law to Margo (Lee) Rosenhan. Don loved his siblings; they were his best friends, enjoying their times together, their love, support and all of his nieces and nephews. It is a truly magnificent family!
Don enjoyed the friendship of many and cherished the brotherhood of those he served with in the Sheriff's department. Don looked forward to the many lunches he shared with them.
We extend our gratitude to all that have provided such tender care to Don and our family. Your kindness touched our hearts and brightened our days. You made a difference.
A viewing will be held Sunday Evening November 25, from 5:00-7:00pm with Military Honors at 5:00pm at Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Ave. SLC, UT, 84103.
Dad you taught us well, we love and admire you. It is from all that made our yesterdays, we live our todays. Thankfully, this will carry us through our tomorrows -we know we are yours forever and always.

My deepest sypathies to the entire Garner family for your loss. I didn't know Don well, but remember him from all those years ago deer hunting. I actually just learned of Don's passing this morning, since I spent the weekend in Holden. I hope he finds a big buck in heaven.

Dear Garner family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time with the great loss of Donny. As one of his cousins I remember many great times with him and the wonderful Garner family. I still have many fond memories of his mom and dad, Bessie and Mack. I'm sure they've had a joyous reunion. It is wonderful to know that families are together and we pray for peace and comfort to be with each of you. We are sorry we couldn't make the viewing, we were out of town. We will make a donation to the kidney foundation in his name and honor.
All our love,
The Larry & Pat Olson family

Uncle Don, what a fine man you are, were, whatever. I admired you for going through life with all the shrapnel and pain you had throughout your body and throughout your life. Our many laughs up on the hillside in Holden. The way you served our country with the Navy and Sheriff Department. You were a hero to many and you will truly be missed. Thankyou for bringing such a great person like AUNT DEBBIE into our lives. I will hold on to my many memories of you and your charming smile. I love you and I know that you are happy. Kriss Holley

To a great friend, from years past. I, as a retired vet, salute you. And as a friend from the old neighborhood shed a tear thinking of all the good times we spent as kids. To your family, I send my condolences. A truly great man has past.
