Doyle Wilson Obituary

1948 ~ 2015
Midway, UT-Doyle V. Wilson passed away on March 12, 2015, of complications resulting from cancer. He was born February 7, 1948, to Emer Huffaker and Leah Henrie Wilson. He attended Midway Elementary and graduated from Wasatch High School, Snow College and Utah State University. He then accepted a call to serve in the New Zealand South Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he learned to love the Maori people. Upon returning he continued his education at Utah State University where he met the love of his life, Barbara Jones. They were married in the Logan Temple on Sept 8, 1972. A year later they both graduated and Doyle was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He went to school and became a targeting officer and for the next seven years he installed the launch codes in the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. In his own words this was, "one of the few things I was really good at." He reached the rank of Captain in the U.S. Air Force. He and Barbara then moved back to the family farm to raise their family. He along with his father, Emer, and brother, Mark, started a manufacturing business called Wilson Camps where they manufactured hundreds of sheep camps for the livestock industry in the Western United States. He could build anything. He was active in community affairs serving on the Chanute Military Board of Directors, Wasatch County Planning Commission and Midway Irrigation Company. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Bishop of the Midway 1st Ward. Wednesday was date night where everything was dropped, the tractor was turned off and he and Barbara served as ordinance workers in the Provo Temple for nearly eight years, a calling they both dearly loved doing together.
He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Jared (Rebecca) Wilson, Kurt (Brooke) Wilson, daughters, Jenaca (Todd) Beagley, all of Midway, Utah, Kelly (Trevor) Johnson, Bluffdale, Utah; sister, Sherry (Harvey) Horner, Heber City, Utah; brothers, Mark (Jorgene) Wilson, Midway, Utah, Ross (Barbara Jean) Wilson, Petersboro, Utah, Dale (Mary Ann) Wilson, Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Jaron, Alexzandra, Piper, ParisBelle, Jett, Preslie, Polly, Sadie, Leah, Khloe, Caitlin.
The family would like to offer their gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Dr. Akerley, Julie Luckart, Terry Van Duren, and Michelle Thompson. The Encompass Hospice Care nurse Tara Snow for her tender care and our family PA and friend Bobby Smith-Salazar. Thanks to Aunt Deanie Barnes and Nannette Barnes for their endless time and compassion helping Doyle and his family. A special thanks to all the family, friends and neighbors who have stopped by to visit and share tender moments with Doyle. Interment will be at the Midway Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, March 16, 2015, at 11:00AM at the Midway Stake Center, 165 North Center Street, Midway, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00PM and Monday morning from 9:30-10:30AM prior to the services both at the Midway Stake Center. Interment will follow in the Midway Cemetery. I have been away from Midway for many years but I will always remember the Wilson family. Not just because we are connected through blood but because of the love and good example that they have been to everyone. They all radiate the spirit of the Lord. I have heard so many good positive comments about Doyle and his family since I have been away. My prayers and thoughts of sympathy are with you all.

Barbara and family,

We are so sad to hear of Doyle's passing. You were our first friends and our best friends when we lived in Texas back in 1974. We will always love you. Please know that life is eternal, that death does not terminate our existence, and that the greatest joys of married life and family relationships will be carried on beyond the grave.

Your friends always,

Patrick and Adele Casaday

Barbra and family I am so sorry for our profound loss. Doyle has left his suffering behind. He was a special man, unique, one- of-kind. A man, as they say, to go down the river with. I will forever remember that mischievous smile and chuckle. And the twinkle in his eye. Bill hayes

Doyle Wilson served his country, his community, his family and his lord. He adored, honored and truly loved his eternal companion, Barbara. He lived a perfect life.

He will be missed. His wry laugh will always be a favorite memory of mine. We laughed a lot while hauling hay and milking cows. He taught me that farming was definitely not for me. He about killed Ron Pope and I sending relentless lines of hay bales up the elevator and Into the barn. I miss this great man.
