Ellen Joy Linton Baggaley

1949 - 2021

Ellen Joy Linton Baggaley, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away August 15, 2021 surrounded by family in her home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. She was born June 13, 1949 to James William and Janet Louise Joy Linton, their third of five children and only daughter. She married Lowell Scott Baggaley on December 27, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 12 children throughout their marriage.

Ellen was a devoted mother. She taught her children to play the piano, and encouraged them in all of their talents. She adored all of her forty grandchildren, and took the time to make each of them feel special.

She was an accomplished pianist and was passionate about music. She began teaching piano lessons as a teenager. She studied music education at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. Ellen taught piano lessons to hundreds of students over her lifetime and enjoyed seeing them grow in all areas of their life. She also worked as a professional accompanist. A highlight of her life was accompanying the Canyon View Chorus for twenty five years in which many of her own children sang.

Ellen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved serving in the church throughout her life.

She was a passionate reader and an active member of her book club.

Ellen was a friend to all animals, and had a canine companion for most of her life. Her dogs were always a treasured member of the family, and were rarely found very far from her side.

Survivors: Ellen is survived by her husband Lowell, eleven children, Janelle (Scott) Toller, Bryan (MaryAlice) Baggaley, Kevin (Jessica) Baggaley, Warren Baggaley, Todd (Lindsay) Baggaley, Trent (Ellen) Baggaley, Melissa (Bryce) Huff, Laura (Daniel) Haber, Richard (Brittany) Baggaley, James (Mallory) Baggaley, and Daniel (Whitney) Baggaley, four brothers, Rod (Diana) Linton, Steve Linton, James (Ann) Linton, and Richard (Anne) Linton, forty grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents and by her daughter Jana Joy Baggaley. She dearly missed her daughter and looked forward to their reunion.

My mother worked with Ellen´s mother Janet. We were blessed to have Ellen for our piano teacher while she was still in high school. I have often thought of her, her parents and brothers who we would see every Saturday. I am so sorry for her family´s loss. Such a special person.

Dear Family, we all grew up together in the Cottonwood area and enjoyed those special years. Then we went on with our lives and lost track of those special friends. We will always remember Ellen as a sweet natured, kind and lovely person. We were surprised to read of her passing. We send our love and sympathy to each one of you, and remember she is still very close to you. THE CHARLIE FOX FAMILY Janice Fox Asay Marilyn Fox McGhie Annette Fox Kennett

Ellen has been a strong influence and a role model in my life. Growing up next door to the Baggaley´s was wonderful, and she was my first piano teacher. She truly did always know just the right thing to say, always made me feel important, and helped me greatly as a teenager as I followed a musical path myself. I will miss her dearly and I wanted to send my sympathies to the entire family.

Sweet Ellen taught all of our children piano. She was so wonderful with them! We lived out of state for several years then we moved back to Utah, but not Cottonwood Heights. I saw Ellen in the Temple a few years later; shortly after our 24 year old daughter died in an accident. Ellen was one of those few who truly understood that experience. She knew how I felt and she knew what to say. She has been such a blessing in my life. She will be truly missed.

We are so sad to be loosing such a kind, loving and talented neighbor and ward member. We are so thankful to know that she isn't far away and that she doesn't have to suffer anymore with her frail earthly body. We look forward to a glorious reunion with her.
