Evelyn Christensen Petty, age 95, passed away January 8, 2016 in Taylorsville, Utah of conditions due to age. Born March 4, 1920 in Castlegate, Utah, 10th child of Neils Christian Christensen and Helga Erickson. Married to Boyd Albert Petty on November 6, 1942 in Hiawatha, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16, 1954.
All her life, loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as visiting teacher, teacher, leader and music chorister, pianist and choir member. Enjoyed serving in the Jordan River Temple Baptistry for 25 years.
Survived by son, Stanley Boyd Petty and wife Vicky, Magna; daughter, Lorraine Nielsen and husband John, Logan; and son Douglas Craig Petty and wife Gayla, Flower Mound, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12 at 11:00 am at the Granger Ward, 2850 W. 3835 So. West Valley City, Utah, 84119. Friends may call Monday, January 11, 2016, 6:00-8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah or at the Granger Ward Tuesday,10:00-10:45 am prior to the funeral. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.

Stanley, Lorraine and Craig,
I was sorry to hear about your mom's passing and equally sorry that I was out of town and not able to attend the funeral where I could give my condolences in person and talk all of you.
I have so many fond memories of your mom and her kindness to me as she taught me all I knew about music appreciation during my young years. She was a wonderful friend to my parents and I am sure they are enjoying catching up right now. I am sure your will miss her.

Dear Petty Family,
I was so sorry to read of your sweet mother's passing. I became acquainted with her while my father (Dean Cannon) served as her Bishop. She was the kindest, most gentle woman. She always took it upon herself when someone in the ward passed away to phone ward members and gather the necessary money to make sure there were flowers sent from the ward family. I was so impressed with her desire and continued willingness to provide such a loving act of service. She was certainly a special lady who was adored by all who knew her. May the Lord bless your family with peace and comfort in the coming days.
