Fred Christian Henningson, age 79, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born Dec. 5, 1922 in Manti, Utah to Henry and Nellie Smith Henningson. He spent his childhood and school years in Manti. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and the beautiful scenery in the mountains. He joined the National Guard at 17 years old and spent his military time in Honolulu, Hawaii and the Asiatic Pacific (Iwa Jima) during World War II. He married Dorothy Comer while in Hawaii; later divorced. Married Maxine Christensen "Chris" April 20, 1948; later divorced. Married Lucille Nielsen Peterson in Reno, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; son, Brent Dee Henningson, Gilbert, AZ; daughters, Linda Kay Johnsen, Cherry Hills, NJ; Sylvia (Charles) McGriff, Orange Park, FL; seven grandchildren; brother, Vernon Henningson, Manti; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter, Shari Lynn Laneville, Ogden; brother, Clair Henningson, Manti; sisters, Ruby Buchanan, Centerfield; Ivie Thorpe, Springville. The family wishes to thank the Health Care Providers and other employees at Woodland Park Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent nursing care and kindness Fred received during his stay. Funeral services will be held Monday, 12:00 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center, 300 South Main Street in Manti, Utah where friends and family may call Monday, 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services.
