I was stunned to hear of Gary's passing. I worked for Western River Expeditions and I think, introduced him to whitewater rafting. He'd been my doc for 2 knee surgeries and one for my hubby. A truly wonderful gentleman in every respect, He was the best of the best and will be missed by ohhh so many!!

Dear Suzanne and Larsen Family,
I was just informed last evening (Jan. 9th) of Gary's passing. I immediately went to my lap top to read his obituary. It so beautifully captured the combination of amazing qualities he possessed and eventually brought a smile to my grieving heart. Intelligent, hard working, humble, devout, talented, witty, kind, service oriented.... the list goes on and on... and to top it off, he was a loving husband & exceptional father!
May the precious memories you created as a couple and a family comfort you through the difficult days ahead. Your knowledge and understanding of God's great plan can bless you with assurance and peace. Lean on the Lord.
With love, Margot

Dear Suzanne,
Susan and I just read Gary's obituary, on line.! We first met you and Gary in the University Ward, while we were all students earning our degrees. I had the pleasure of being your home teacher for a spell. You were also John Williams sister... John and I were companions in the Central British Mission Home, under George I Cannon. Gary fixed my broken leg, after breaking it at Solitude, in 1978, and I will always be grateful that he chose to just align the bones and cast me up for 6 months, sparing me from potential future surgeries, and other complications common to surgical repairs! Gary also repaired Susan's two knees. One memory was a day skiing at Snowbird with you and Gary, we all rode the chair up together, and started off the top, and you and I skied the rest of the morning together as Gary was off speeding into glorious powder non-stop, as you said skiing was his break away from the grind of medical practice during the winter! Susan and I are so sorry for your loss and want you to know you both hold a special place in our hearts forever.
Love, Lowell and Susan Elmer

Dear Suzanne and family, Julie and I offer our sincere condolences to you. To us Gary was always a true friend you could count on. He was a great doctor and represented the Utah Class of `66 with distinction.
I served with him for many years on the Alumni Board where he made many contributions and also had many interaction with him at Bear Lake Watch. We date our friendship with Suzanne to our days at USU
Sincerely. Harmon and Julie Eyre

I worked with Dr Larsen over 20 years ago. He was one of the best bosses, along with Dr Smith, I´ve ever had. I learned so much in the time working there and thought very highly of them both. I have wonderful memories of that time in my life and loved it so much I went on to get my RN. Thank you for teaching me so much and having so much patience while I was learning you both helped me on my future path. You will be missed here.

Gary was my bishop growing up, and all us kids loved him! He always made time for us. I remember fun game nights at his house playing air hockey and making shakes. Even after my wife and I were married we'd run into Gary at Cottonwood hospital, he always took time to stop and catch up and check in on us.

For us new pledges to Sigma Chi in 1961, Gary was one of the wise elders to emulate in the senior class for his academic and athletic prowess, but also as someone who exuded class, and was appealing in appearance and pleasant and interesting and interested, and was seldom seen without his perpetual smile. Through many years of knowing him I never caught up to him in age--strange how that works--but encountered him and Suzanne in a number of common places. Beyond the extensive pursuits mentioned in his obituary, there are more. Rubbing shoulders with a repairer of shoulders and multiple other bones and joints was a privilege at medical meetings and dinners, where Gary was highly respected within his profession. He was instrumental in bringing instrumental music to school children via the committee of physicians supporting and fundraising for the Utah Symphony school education programs and on the Board of Directors of The Gifted Music School. As physicians consulting to Latter-day Saint Missions worldwide, we were more secure in knowing an orthopedist of Gary´s stature could be consulted day or night as young missionaries are quite adept at misusing their bones and joints. And he was an in to sister and astute Utah Legislator Cheryl´s ear when lobbying the lawmakers was in order. Joints can be replaced. Dr. Larsen can´t--just admired for the goodness he spread, and rejoined eventually when families can be together forever.
