Gary Seymour Obituary
- Gary Judson Seymour, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 24, 2025. His life was one full of faith, humor, discipleship, service, and love.
Gary was born on May 4, 1935, to Orla Seymour and Olga Butler Cole in Marion, Utah. He bounced around through Utah and Idaho during his childhood but always had a special love for summers spent on his uncle Ed Ure's ranch in Kamas, Utah. He completed schooling in Boise, Idaho. While living there he met the cutest girl at rival Nampa High School, the love of his life and eternal companion, Treva. After their marriage on September 23, 1954, they spent the next 71 years side-by-side. Over the years they have had four children: Don (Cyndee), Ed (Shannon), Steve (Angie), and Susan Burton (Russ). They then became the proud grandparents of 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He had several different occupations during adulthood including work in the Navy as a Sea-Bee, and Cream O' Weber and Hi-Land dairies, but the majority of his working career was spent at the Kennecott Smelter Powerhouse, where he worked for 30 years. Outside of work he was an avid Ute fan, and he loved growing great corn and great kids. His family was always his top priority, and he made this apparent in the way that he lived his life.
He was welcomed back to his heavenly home by parents, stepmother Louise, younger brother Robert Cole, and a host of other family members. He is succeeded by wife Treva, brother Bart Seymour, sister Cecile Peay, brother Kerry Cole, all four children, and all grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on 5775 South 2700 West, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2025, from 6:00-7:00pm. A second viewing will be held on Thursday morning, October 30, and will begin at 10:00am, and will be followed by funeral services at 11:00am.
The family would like to express sincere and special gratitude for his wonderful neighbors, the team of healthcare providers at Legacy House of Taylorsville, and Aspire Home Health and Hospice for their dedicated compassion and care during Gary's final months and hours.

Treva and Family
We were saddened to hear the news about Gary. We have such sweet, fond memories of him and Treva from when we were kids and our parents, Marvin and Bernice, were friends.
We recently came across a lovely photo of our dad, Marvin, and Gary together, and it just reminded us of those wonderful times.

Gary was a dear friend of mine. We worked together at the Smelter for 30 years when he retired. It was an honor to pick him up and take him to breakfast with guys we worked with every 1st Tuesday of the month.
I am really going to miss him!

Sending hugs to the family. I loved Uncle Judd so much - he reminded me of my dad. I love the idea of him and my dad being reunited, and I can only image how great that reunion is. A favorite memory is when my sister and I would look for Uncle Judd at every Utah football game so we could make sure to go say hi and give him a hug. I still think of him when I go to the games. Go Utes!
