Gary Stenquist Obituary

Gary Roscoe Stenquist
1938 ~ 2013
Our beloved father, Gary Roscoe Stenquist, was reunited with his sweetheart on July 9th after a courageous battle with cancer. He married the love of his life, Carol Motzkus. He demonstrated through his entire life the true meaning of the word love. He lost his wife in 2011 and was so heartbroken. We are excited that Gary and his wife have once again reunited and have each other.
Gary was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved to spend time with them at their cabin. We all have such fond memories together and will carry these with us. He also loved to travel and never lacked for friends on these fantastic adventures.
It is with bittersweet hearts that his four surviving children; Mike, (Kelly), Bob, (Shellie), Heidi, (Scott), and Jenifer, (Joel) and his 13 grandchildren say "goodbye". He will be greatly missed but we love the lessons he has taught all of us. Viewing from 6-8 at Wasatch Lawn on Friday, July 12th and the funeral will be held at the Kamas Stake Center building at 11:00 on Saturday July 13th with a short viewing prior.

Dear Stenquist family, We have always enjoyed sharing our cabin property never to your mom and dad. Gary was always so friendly. I'm sure your parents and our father have "hooked up together" and are enjoying lots of fond memories about the great years hanging out in South Weber. He will always be dearly remembered by our family. Sincerely, Marvin Wallin family

Heidi,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your father was such a wonderful man. I know it was so hard for him when your mom died. Now they can be together. I'm sure it's hard because you loved them so.

One additional story if I may: Gary, as our next door neighbor in Bear Hollow would always plow a parking spot for us in the winter so we didn't have walk so far. In addition, he would frequently make certain we had enough water and bring some of his fresh well water for us without us having to ask. One final story was one that Carol told my wife Marie. She was ready to leave for work at her SLC Prosthetic Boutique one morning during the winter all dressed up for work. She slipped on the front steps going to her car and flung her Slim Fast drink into the air and it all landed in her pretty fixed up hair and clothes. Trying not to laugh but ultimately laughing as she did, she said she had to go back into the cabin and start over again. Her prosthetic boutiques were a God-send for many people including my late Sister Gloria who counted Carol as a good friend. We will miss you Gary and Carol. May God be with you both til we meet again.

We will miss Gary and Carol up at the cabin. When I was sick and in the hospital Gary showed up many times to visit. He was always the perfect neighbor and friend. South Fork has lost a treasure Man along with his beloved Carol.

Gary taught me the true meaning of love. Watching him with Carol was the sweetest love story ever. Happy for him, so sad for the family.

Mike, Bob, Heidi,Jennifer and family,
What a passionate man Garebear was. May your lives from here on without Gary and Carol display the passion for life they both lived. Each one of you have so much of your parents in you. Let God use it all for good as you live the rest of your lives as living legacy of your parents. Gods Peace to all....Mares
