Glen Morse Obituary

Glen Barry Morse

1943 ~ 2023

- Glen Barry Morse, born June 7, 1943, Salt Lake City, Utah – Graduated to our next existence on July 16, 2023, Murray, Utah. Glen was the son of Glen L Morse and Shirley M Field. Glen graduated from Olympus High School and served in the United States Air Force.

Glen married Sandy Gaisford on April 26, 1968, and was later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 2, 1975. Glen and Sandy put down roots in Taylorsville Utah where they built a home to build their lives. Glen was a dynamic salesman all his life, and in the early years he took his family to Las Vegas, Nevada for a time and then on to Minnesota where they made lifelong friends, before returning to Utah and West Jordan where they finished raising their five children. Glen and Sandy had three girls and two boys: Angela (Bryan), Heather (Tim), Branden, Amber (Jesse), and Patrick (Danielle).

As a salesman, he never met a stranger which served him well as a realtor at Ulrich Realtors for over 30 years. Glen was a lifetime fan of the Utah Utes, as well as the Utah Jazz, and he loved to play golf. Pops was a jokester and a well-chronicled dad joke teller of the highest order. He took this job very seriously, key the eye roll and uncomfortable laughs.

Glen served in many callings in the church, as a Scout Leader, Ward Mission Leader, 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric. He served as High Priest Group Leader, the High council, he worked with the young single adults, as an Ordinance worker in the Jordan Ricer Temple, and as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher (his favorite church calling).

Pop's absolute favorite calling in life was as a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved taking the grandkids to Disneyland, camping out at the family reunion every year, or crawfishing at Strawberry every July 24th. He loved to entertain and would go to great lengths to make the kids laugh and cringe. Picture Halloween when he dressed as Lady Gaga and wore her meat dress (better than she did) with baloney safety pinned to his top. He was a fantastic son, brother, husband, dad, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend and confidant.

I was asked to write this obituary/tribute and I've been asking myself, how do I capture the essence of a man that has had such a profound impact on his family and friends? He was the guy that would put his arm around my shoulders, look me in the eye and say, "well Timothy", chuckle and that was enough. He was also the man that could get tongue tied or have a hard time just spitting it out. He would on occasion, answer to the name, Denny Crane (IYKYK) and tell you that he had mad cow disease. His influence, example, and love are now our blessing and charge to carry forward.

Glen is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, thirteen grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his sister, Shirleen Bowen, his nephew, and many, many friends. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Chuck Bowen, mother-in-law, father-in-law and his daughter, Heather.

Pops battled cancer over the last 2 years, and our family wants to thank his medical and ministering angels that were with him every step of the way.

The viewing will be held Friday, July 21, 2023, 6:00-8:00 PM at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home at 1007 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah.
