Ila Mae Fairbourn Dahl departed this mortal life December 14, 2013 from causes incident to age.
She will be missed by her children; Randy Dahl(Cynthia); David Dahl(Gayla) ; Janell(Zan Draney); Annette (Grant Hirsche); Sandra (Brian Merrill) and Jason Dahl(Amy) as well as 29 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.
Ila Mae was the daughter of Leslie Delroy and Rose Smith Fairbourn and grew to womanhood in Crescent, Utah (now South Town Mall area). She was the 6th child born to "Les" and Rose. Her siblings, not all now living, are Merle Fairbourn(Fern), Marion Fairbourn(Laura), Roylance(Frank Holt), LaVerl (Glade McKee), Mary(Ken Nokes), Vauna(Fred Moosman), Jerry Fairbourn(Rae) and Ross Fairbourn(Judy).
Ila Mae met her future husband Lowell C. Dahl in high school, and after a three-year courtship; they were married on August 23, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by the Deseret New Press as secretary to the general manager. After Lowell graduated from the then Utah State Agricultural College, they lived in several different areas of the United States.
Ila Mae had an infectious smile and was liked and loved by all. She made friends easily and was a model of compassion and charity. She served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake and Ward Relief Society leadership; Young Women's organization and in the Primary organization as well as many related teaching and supportive callings. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Late in life she also served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband in the Idaho Boise Mission.
Although all will miss her, we are happy that she has now progressed to another realm in her eternal journey.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the LDS chapel at 50 South 750 West. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary 495 South State Street, Orem and also Friday 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services.
