James Brady Obituary

James Michael Brady
"Gone Bowling"
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Jim "Jimmy" Brady passed away on November 11, 2012, of complications from ALS, at the age of 70.
He was born on September 27, 1942, in Salt Lake City, to Mervin and Marjorie Cox Brady. Jimmy graduated from Jordan High School where he was a champion wrestler and also a cheerleader. In his younger years he was active in the LDS Church where he excelled in basketball. He served in the Army Reserve. He married his wife, Wanda Fleenor, on July 25, 1969 in Olympia, WA and they resided in Sandy, UT for most of his life.
Jim was a well respected drywall nailing contractor for 45 years, and was able to take great pride in his work. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, enjoyed gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Later in life he enjoyed bowling and was president of numerous leagues for over 20 years. Jim was very outgoing, honest, kind, and everyone that knew him loved him. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by Wanda, his wife of 43 years, children; Jamie (Darryl) Jones (from a previous marriage), Laurie (Craig) Marsh, Brian (Chantelle), Breanna; seven grandchildren and one on the way, brothers; Jerry (Betty), Richard (Karen), sister, Marilyn Elkins. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Gordon and Kim, and a brother-in-law, John.
His funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, at 11:00 a.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1950 East. A viewing will be held for family and friends on Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the services. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com.

Full many a glorious morning have I seen
Flatter the mountain tops with sovereign eye,
Kissing with golden face the meadows green,
Gilding pale streams with heavenly alchemy;
Anon permit the basest clouds to ride
With ugly rack on his celestial face,
And from the forlorn world his visage hide,
Stealing unseen to west with this disgrace:
Even so my sun one early morn did shine,
With all triumphant splendour on my brow;
But out, alack, he was but one hour mine,
The region cloud hath mask'd him from me now.
Yet him for this my love no whit disdaineth;
Suns of the world may stain when heaven's sun staineth.

Sonnet 33: Full Many A Glorious Morning I Have Seen
See You Later Uncle Jim! Love you.

Wanda, Laurie, and Family,
Because you will find yourselves reflecting on Jim in many situations and settings for the rest of your lives, this poem has always been a favorite of mine:

"I Did Not Die"
Do not stand on my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints in the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
So do not stand on my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

I hope you find comfort in these simple words.
love to all of you,
Mary Ann

Jim, I am saddened to hear of your passing. You were always kind and always treated me like an adult even though I was only a kid. I always enjoyed coming over and chatting with you at the door waiting for Brian to finish getting ready! Though I haven't talked to you in years, I'm glad the last time I did was at your bowling alley. May you rest in peace!
