Jenny Wiscomb Obituary

Jenny Anne Martinson Wiscomb
1960 ~ 2011
Jenny Anne Martinson Wiscomb, the heart of our family, our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on November 30, 2011, after an extraordinary fight with a rare cancer. Jenny was loved by everyone who knew her. During her too-short life, she made an enormous impact on everyone she met and made a difference everywhere she went.
Jenny came into the world on May 29, 1960. She was adored by her Mom and Dad and two brothers. From the time she was a child her sparkling eyes and infectious smile and laugh brought fun and enjoyment everywhere she went up to her last days. She graduated with a BA degree from the University of Utah and started worked for the March of Dimes as the director of special events were she used her talents to coordinate large events for a cause she believed in. She then married the love of her life and started her family, which gave her the most joy. She quit the March of Dimes to raise her children and had various part-time jobs. Her favorite was being the librarian at Southland Elementary where she loved reading to the children and brought extra life to the books with her animated reading abilities.
Jenny was blessed with many talents, including a rich alto voice, which she shared in several choirs, small ensembles, and with her daughter and family. She found great joy in serving the young women and primary age children in a variety of church callings, and was a counselor in the Stake Young Women's presidency at the time of her death. Jenny loved doing crafts, and shared her talents with others. She sewed, quilted and scrapbooked, but the thing she loved most was sharing time with her husband Tom and being a mother to her two children, Glen and Emily. They loved being together as a family and enjoyed many family vacations including trips to Disneyland and Island Park, ID.
Jenny left a legacy for her family and friends of love, testimony, and service to others. The world was a better place with Jenny in it. Jenny is survived by her husband, Thomas G. Wiscomb, her children, Glen and Emily, her father, Gene Martinson, her two brothers, Gary (Karen) and Curt, and her extended family, including many nieces and nephews. Her mother, Patricia Ellerman Martinson, preceded her in death in 2008.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Riverton Utah Central Stake Center, 12852 So. 3200 W. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Monday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Riverton City Cemetery. www.broomheadfuneralhome.com

Tom, I was so shocked to see Jenny's picture in the paper. I enjoyed meeting her when you and I worked together at UP&L. She was one of those people that was easy to feel comfortable around and easy to talk to. I was very impressed by her as I got to know her better. I know you and the children must feel a deep loss and I hope the Lord will comfort and sustain you all until you can get used to life without her. My heart goes out to you so much. You are in my prayers. --Pat Harward

To Jenny's family;
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your daughter, wife and Mother.
She lived such a Christ-like life of service.
I worked with Jenny at the March of Dimes over 20 yrs. ago. She is one of those few wonderful people I have met during my life that I will never forget - her pure, happy Spirit and love of life. She was always caring for others and thinking of their well-being, trying to make the world a better place. I am thankful for the privilege of having known her for a short time. May you all be able to feel the love & peace our Savior, Jesus Christ, can bring; and joy in the memories of your beloved Jenny.

It was truly an honor being a part of Jenny's life. I still remember her positive attitude when she was my sunday school teacher. She helped me to kindle a strong love for the gospel of Jesus Christ that has grown because of the light she brought. I also remember when she worked with Mark Eaton and was able to get my basketball cards of him signed. This only taught me about how much she cared for others. She has such a caring love that shined through her giving character. Tom, Glen, and Emily, you are in mine and my wife's prayers. I love you all and wish you simply the best in all you do. Your family has touched my life so strongly that I still remember it all today as I serve in the Air Force. Thank you for who you are.

Dear Jenny, I haven't ever been too good at good byes~ I much prefer "See you later". I am so thankful for our knowledge that our relationships extend much further than this mortal existence. I know that I will be your good friend again on the other side of the veil. That we will again have the opportunity to laugh, sing, scrapbook, read, smile and just visit again. I love you and I am so thankful for your strength and testimony that has always lifted me up. I was blessed to have served and work with you in so many capacities. Relief Society, Primary, school, PTA, and as visiting teaching companions. One thing about working with Jenny is that she is the lead bird. She knows how to do things and gets them done. You get to float back on the breeze that she steers right into. She takes the world head on and lightens the load for all those around her. It was so easy to soar with you, Jenny. And now at your departure, it's time to let others spread their wings and enjoy the flight. I LOVE YOU and I will deeply miss you. May God continue to keep you in his tender care until we meet again.
Tom, Glen and Emily, I love you all so much!~ Thanks for sharing the light of your wife/mom with the world. We are all much better people having been a part of your and her lives. I am grateful that this is really just a "see you later". For I know that we will be with her again. God bless you all. I love you.

Dear Tom, Glen and Emily, I just wanted you to know how much Jenny was loved by the students and teachers at Southland Elementary. She made coming to the library such a wonderful experience. Dear Tom, Glenn and Emily...I didn't get to know your wonderful mother until near the end of her journey here on earth. I was in the audience of her last speaking engagement before she got to sick to do anymore. When they introduced her and she started telling her story, you could feel the love that she has for you and the Lord. I could only hope that I could have as much faith and courage to face my challanges as your sweet mother did. Meeting her and feeling of her wonderful spirit that one time has really left an impact on my life. I hope you are able to find peace and comfort during this time thru our Savior Jesus Christ. You will be in our prayers and thoughts always...Stephanie Roberts (Riverton)

Tom, Glen & Emily, You get to take your memories and your love with you when you leave this earth. You three are responsible for the majority of those memories and love Jenny got to take with her. How blessed this world has been to have Jenny as a Christ-like example...she touched so many with her special brand of love. We are all better people and blessed that she shared one of her most prized possessions...her testimony on tape, something that will endure the test of time and will be a legacy to us all. Her love, laugh, smile, hugs, beautiful eyes, compassionate heart and courage will be with you always. Once your earth angel, now she has earned her wings and will always watch over you. You'll notice the stars are a little brighter. She taught us all what love and courage is... right to the end. May God's love, comfort and peace be yours always.
