Jerry Reid Obituary

Jerry Don Reid
1941 - 2016
This handsome country boy met his city girl on a blind date in 1962. It was love at first sight for Jerry Don Reid and Lynda Louise Clawson. They married six months later and recently celebrated 53 happy years together.
Jerry was born in Cass, Arkansas in a log cabin to Melba Joy Turner Reid and Eugene Debs Reid. The middle son of three boys, he was proud of his southern heritage and always reminisced of his youth and his many adventures in the Arkansas Ozarks with his cousins and brothers. Jerry later moved with his family to Sunflower, Kansas, where he made many life-long friends, before settling in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jerry was always quick to lend a hand, fix the unfixable, impart his practical knowledge of many subjects, and support his Green Bay Packers and Utah Jazz. His foot always tapping, he loved to listen to country music - Willie, Waylon and Dolly among his favorites. A family man who loved to dance with his favorite girls was always a moment to remember. He was a long-time resident and business owner in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where many new him for his integrity and workmanship.
Jerry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family - his wife, Lynda; his children Greg Reid (Suzette), John Reid (Lisa), Dana Reid and Michael Reid. Five precious grandchildren called him Grampa: Ivy, Zoe, Erik, Keely, and Hudson Reid.
Jerry is survived by his wife and family, his brother Herbert Gene Reid (Betsy), Lexington, Kentucky, his niece and nephew, Amy and Trent Reid, cousin Lonnie Turner and many extended family and friends.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held in his honor on Wednesday, March 16th from 6-8 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 6950 Whitmore Way in Cottonwood Heights. Online messages can be made at www.holbrookmortuary.com.

Linda, it's hard to believe, as an outsider looking in, that Jerry has been gone 5 years. You two were peas in a pod, with similar interests and love for each other that shone out to others whether you realized it or not. Please know of our continued love for you. We hope that eveything is going well for you and your children. We'll stay in better touch, and hope that you'll accept our friendship with the heartfelt measures we send it.

What a handsome fella you married Lynda. You are one of the lucky ones. I hope to be as well someday. You inspire me. I only wish I could have known you folks before he passed. God bless us all.

What a seeet man! And what a perfect helpmeet you were for him, Linda. it was a joy to have seen the two of you as a team as you worked through any concourse of difficulty or delight life threw your way. Thanks for your ongoing friendship and loyalty to those who have come to know you as "friends".
