Joan Ginn Obituary

Joan E Ginn

In Loving Memory

Spring, TX—She was born April 30, 1948 to Harold and Beth (Lyman) Edwards. She grew up in Milford, Utah the middle of seven siblings. She attended Brigham Young University, where she met Evan DeWitt Ginn, Jr. and fell in love. They married in the St. George LDS Temple June 7, 1968 and created a beautiful family that will last into the eternities. Together they had 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and an abundance of love and laughter in their lives.

Joan was a wonderful mother and Nana and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While doing all she could to support her family, she served many women in different church callings throughout her years. She inspired countless more to laugh, use their voices, and be empowered. She had a testimony of Jesus Christ, a deep sense of curiosity of all people, could talk to any stranger, and was full of compassion and wit. She loved God, her family, chocolate, quilting, reading, and finding a great deal while shopping. She was incredibly courageous as she battled depression for many long years and fought against the stigma of mental illness.

She is preceded in death by her dear husband Evan DeWitt Ginn, Jr., daughter Lori Ann Ginn, granddaughter Sara Ann Ginn, her parents, and a brother. She is survived by her children Lisa (Todd) Foster of Lehi, UT, Tyler (Victoria) Ginn of Wilmette, IL, Kirk (Kari) Ginn of Austin, TX, Emily Kikuchi of Klein, TX, two sisters, and three brothers. Her beautiful legacy will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren Samantha, Makell, Evan, Kennedy, Addison, Maya, Kate, Campbell, Keagan, Riley, and Tess. Each one of her cherished grandchildren will be honored as her pallbearers.

Joan's viewing will be Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to this open house, held at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379.

The private graveside service for family will be Friday, April 23 at Klein Memorial Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joan Ginn be made to Texas Children's Hospital to support the neurology department. Visit texaschildrens.org/givenow or call the donation hotline at 832.824.6806 for details.

Deepest sympathy for the loss of your mother, sister, aunt, Nana. I remember Joan when she and Evan would visit his family in SC. My mother (Iris Victoria Ginn Trice) was Evan's Aunt (sister to Evan DeWitt Ginn, Sr.). Joan was a joy to be around! Thought and prayers of comfort are with your families.

Joan was a ray of sunshine in our on-campus and later our off-campus apartments. She could tease and be teased equally well. She was an inspiration to us all.
