He has called Bountiful his home for 48 years. He lived and attended school in Springville and graduated from Provo High School. When World War II began with Pearl Harbor, John was 18 years old and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served his country three years in the South Pacific. After the war ended, he attended Utah State University in Logan where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Thomson. They were married January 18, 1947. This past January they celebrated 60 years together- still not long enough. He was a much loved husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly. John worked for 53 years in the temperature and humidity control business. He worked for such companies as Honeywell, Powers Regulator, Climate Control, and Applied Automation. He did not retire until his 80th birthday. John is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and served in many callings: Scouts, Young Men's President, Elder's Quorum, and High Priest Presidencies. John was a hard worker and provider. He could repair and fix almost anything. He had a good life. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family. He loved the mountains and loved to hike, hunt and fish. John is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Debbie (Jim) Romney, son Dennis John Lee, daughter DeAnna (Ron) Stock, and two sisters: Lucille Hanks (96), Ruth Jones (92), and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. I am a niece of John, and although I never really got to spend very much time with him (since I live in Colorado)I always had the upmost respect for him. He was such a kind loving man and I know that his family meant the world to him. Aunt Marilyn you are so lucky to have him as your soul mate. What a wonderful husband & father he was!
There is a special comfort in knowing that the words "Welcome Home" have been heard in heaven, as the beautiful memories of your loved one's life remain here in our hearts.

I was the last son-in-law to come into the family of the four Thomson sisters. My wife, Elouise, is the youngest and has made her own Guest Book entry. I was always impressed with the clan, they are all admirable people. John was great friend visiting us in Colorado as well as us seeing him and Marilyn in Utah. We feel such a loss. Condolences from our family go out to Marilyn and her children. Our thoughts are with you Marilyn, Debbie, DeAnna, Dennis and the grandchildren. And of course we send our love.

I have so many fond memories of John.

My second sister Marilyn was nearly twelve years older, she was like a mother to me. When I was about nine Marilyn worked at the soda fountain, as they called it then, in the C. C. Anderson Department Store in Logan. I loved going there to see her. John was talking to Marilyn one day when I sat down. She introduced me and John bought me an ice cream cone. Later when she came home from work I told her that he was so cute she should marry him. Well, luckily she did.

John and Marilyn took me so many places. John had a coupe with a rumble seat, a folding seat in back with a lid like a trunk. John called the car Jenny. We went to Bear Lake, and so many places. I was the little tagalong sister. I went with them when John drove us to Springfield to meet his family.

I remember the first Christmas after they were married. My oldest sister Artella had a son who was just two years old. There was a stuffed lamb under the tree that I thought was the cutest thing I had ever seen and of course I thought it was for Steven. But John had bought it for me. I loved him even more.

There have been countless times through out my life that John and Marilyn have helped me. John was the big brother I never had.

John was a wonderful husband, father and 'big brother' and will be missed by all. His family should be proud of him and revere his memory. I was fortunate to visit with John in Bountiful the week before he passed away.

Dear Aunt Marilyn and Cousins,
I am deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Jack. He was so dear to our family.
As a child, I remember him dropping by our house to visit my Mom, Emma, his sister. Her eyes would always light up so when he came, or when she talked of him.
(I had such a crush on him too! He was soooo handsome.)
I will miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
Love,
Miriam
(Emma's youngest daughter)
