Joyce Haffty Obituary
Salt Lake City, Utah- Our loving mother and grandmother, Joyce Ellis Haffty, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday October 19, 2013 with family members at her side. She was born January 29, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa to George and Jennie Ellis. She married Joseph Haffty on October 5, 1958 in Washington D.C. Joyce and Joe then moved to Denver, Colorado where they resided for over 40 years. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents, brother Art and sister Bess. She is survived by her son Norman (Wecky), daughter Lynette (Jim) Sakellariou, grandchildren Alexis, Dimitri, Joseph and Alexander. Joyce was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren. She also took great pride in her Syrian heritage which came through with her outstanding cooking especially her Syrian bread, which she loved to make and give to family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 23, 2013 at 11:30 am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 278 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive with a Trisagion service at 7:45 PM. Interment will take place in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Holy Trinity Philoptochos or St. Mark Orthodox Church, 17840 Sky Park Circle, Irvine CA 92614. May her memory be eternal.

I had the privilege of being introduced to your mother and father by my father, in Denver, many years ago. Our parents were good friends.
I am so sorry for your loss, Your mother was a lovely lady. I'm sure she will be missed by all who knew her.
