I believe that Kay was a nurse that worked along side of my father, Dr. JD Mortensen. I met Kay when I was very young. I admired her crisp nurse's cap and her cheery personality. For years afterward my goal in life was to be a nurse - just like nurse Kay!

Aunt Kay .... peacemaker, people builder, healer, voice of reason, matriarch. A small woman with a mighty presence and a nourshing source of comfort, love, happiness, hope, a good laugh and a hearty plate of pasta. This Italian-Basque "testarossa" will be sorely missed. My family thanks our dear "Aunt Kay" for the indelible mark she has left on our lives and heart.

I knew Kay from working at the Postal Service. She was the one bright spot down there, always kind, sweet, loving, accepting and helpful.
She had a young spirit about her; I saw her I believe last year sometime at Target and would’ve never guessed she was in her 90s!
You had a good mom, grandma, neighbor, friend, etc. and I hope knowing that helps bring you comfort and peace.

I knew Kay while she was at the USPS in 1980s. She embodied all the characteristics mentioned and much, much more. Everyone felt better spending time with her. She will be missed. Prayers for her family.

Mary Jo and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I know Georgia cherished the wonderful friendship they shared. I have great respect for Kay. She put flowers on Carmen's grave a number of times. I have not forgotten her kindness nor will I forget. I send my love and my thought.
