Dear Eve & Family: While my relationship with you and Ken only goes back about 10 years (Susan & I first met you and Ken while we were hiking in Zions National Park), I have always been impressed with you and Ken and the great love and common bonds the two of you had for each other. When I think of Ken coming into my office, the first things that come to mind are how great he looked in his leather motorcycle outfit, his upbeat approach to life ("do it now"), his great organizational & computer skills, his business acumen; and, his eagerness to tell me of another biking adventure the two of you had just finished; or, one that he was currently planning on for the two of you. Also, when I lost my wife, Susan, two years ago, Ken's kind comments were much appreciated. So I pass these comments on to you with the first hand knowledge and advice that the expression of love and kindness from family and friends, along with the fond memories of the wonderful times you had together; plus, the many mental pictures you have of you and Ken together (especially his great persistent smile), will carry you through the days and years to come. As Ken so aptly said in his obituary "smile because it (life) happened". My sincere condolences are with you and your family and my salute goes to a Great Guy (& friend)- "Ken Bertran". Phil Osborne.

Dearest Eve and Children,
I was shocked to hear of Ken's death. It is so hard to see soulmates separated. You two have been an inspiration to me as the way couples should love and care for one another. The devoted fun you have had together will last for the rest of your lives. Know my thoughts, and the thoughts of the entire Utah Symphony family are with you.
Much love,
Kathy

To all of Kenneth's family and friends,
Our hearts go out to you. Kenneth had the right attitude in that there will be more adventures awaiting. May you find strength in the promise at John 5:28,29. We know that he loved life and he taught us all a lot.

Dad, I miss you so much already. I'm so sad that you had to leave so early. It seems like you were just hitting your stride!
All the things in life that a person works so hard for, you had. I just wish that you would've had more time to enjoy these things. It's just not fair at all, to any of us. We love you so much.

Eve, We will never forget Ken’s sweet willingness to be by your side at numerous church functions. With quiet dignity and a warm smile, Ken always supported your efforts, even teetering dangerously close to the edge of the stage with his tripod while taking dozens of cherished nativity pictures! We express our deepest sympathy at your loss and join with you in the knowledge that you will be together again. May the Lord’s strength and blessings be with you and your family at this challenging time. With love and admiration, Richard and Julie Orr

I will miss my brother in ways that words can not describe as a child he was my world. He was th father I never had. Kenneth was my best friend growing up. We were always together. His love of bike riding was share by me. The Christmas morning we woke and found two brand new shinny Schwinn bikes. Back in the fifties they were just tree speeds. We both went racing off to the school to really have a ride. When we got there I was screaming at Ken "How do I stop" we never had bikes with hand breaks. As an adult I rode a bike all the time. I did not drive until I married my husband. I will miss him.

Eve,
Words cannot describe my feelings of sorrow for the loss of the love of your life. I will not forget the encouraging words from Ken on our tandem bicycle rides. Our first tandem bike ride together with the two of you in Midway years ago has inspired many joys while riding in-tandem on the road and in tandem relationships of our lives. I will miss Ken's warm and loving smile but I will always be reminded of his zest for life. My prayers are with you and yours.
Love,

I know in my heart you will always be with us. Like it says don't be sad because it is over - smile because it happened and I am so glad that you happened into our lives. I love you forever.

What a privilege to know Ken! His love for the ride, the joy and delight he found with Eve as they ventured two-up whenever they could, and his work to draw riders together were truly inspiring. Thanks for bringing all those wonders to us!
