Laura Andreason Obituary

Laura Ann Greenwood Andreason

July 26, 1934 – October 10, 2024

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother Laura Ann Greenwood Andreason passed away peacefully October 10, 2024, at the age of 90 in her Midvale, Utah, home. She was born July 26, 1934, in Murray, Utah. Known throughout her life as "Ann," she was the first of five children born to Thomas Foster Greenwood Junior and Uarda Gillespie Greenwood. She attended Jordan High School where she met Bruce Henroid Ballard. They were married and had 10 children. They were later divorced. She married Lewis Carl Andreason on Dec. 19, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ann had a strong testimony as a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Cub Scout den mother for years and served in her ward Primary among her many church assignments. With Carl, she served an inner-city mission that lasted unofficially for years after their release. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and volunteered to work at local elections. Ann and Carl helped start the Bar M Restaurant in Moab in 1989 and operated it for several years before selling it and returning to their Midvale home. She was a remarkable artist, known to have a pencil in her hand to express herself artistically since she was a young girl. Ann had a love for Native Americans, and most of the many art awards she won were for her portraits of them.

Ann grew up on the Greenwood family farm at State Street and 7500 South (Greenwood Avenue) area -- the source of her appreciation for hard work -- and she resided in the area most of her life after the farm was developed residentially. She was always busy and had many amazing experiences, but she would say that her biggest accomplishment was raising her 10 children.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Elaine Briggs, Karen Richins, and Mary Crawford; son Bruce Ballard; daughter Barbara Thomas, and grandsons Darby Golub and Brent Tripp. She is survived by her husband, sister Gayle Waldron (Gary), brother Thomas Foster Greenwood III (Pat), daughter-in-law Shanna Ballard and children Beverly Bonham (Craig), Brian Ballard, Bonnie Kirkpatrick (Alan), Brenda Steedman, Mary Beth Garrison (Roger), Betty Jo Tripp (Brent), Bradly Ballard (Leslie), and Bridget Olsen (Richard). She has 56 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four stepchildren: Wayne Carl Andreason (Ruth Ann), Wendy Cooper (Michael), Mark Andreason (Wendy), and Molly Andreason; 18 step-grandchildren, and 40 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 240 East Greenwood Circle, in Midvale. Viewing will begin at 9:45 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m.
