Liesel Smith Obituary

Liesel Marlene Smith 1982 ~ 2007 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on Friday, July 6, 2007 of our beloved daughter, granddaughter and sister, Liesel Marlene Smith. Liesel was born January 3, 1982 to Richard S. and Heidi M. Smith, in Provo, Utah. As an exuberant little girl, she brought lots of excitement and happiness to all members of her family. She attended Canyon Crest Elementary, Farrer Middle School and Timpview High School with the class of 2000. Over the past several years she has worked as a department manager at Lowe's Home Improvement Center in Orem, where she has greatly enjoyed both assisting customers and associating with co-workers. Liesel was high-spirited and quick-witted. She was opinionated and never hesitated to share her opinions with others. She loved her books and her art, and she was so very fond of her small pet bunnies. She had an infectious sense of humor and laughed frequently, and when she turned on her slightly crooked smile, those around her had to smile as well. And yet, despite the confidence she showed on the outside, inside she had the tender feelings of a little girl. She was always a favorite with friends and family. Her brothers and sisters in particular loved to be with Liesel and when they were together she was frequently the center of attention. She is survived by her paternal grandmother, Marla Ewart, her maternal grandfather, Max B. Weaver, her parents Richard S. and Heidi M. Smith, brothers and sisters, Kennon Michelle, Tierney Nicole, Richard Max, Jesse Scott and Meghan Marielle, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, and two little nieces. We will all miss her very, very much. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Riverwoods Ward Chapel at 300 West 4800 North (the continuation of Orem Center Street close to the Shops at Riverwoods) in Provo. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street in Provo, and again from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Riverwoods Ward Chapel prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]

Dear Smith Family, my heart ached when I heard of Liesel's passing. She was a very dear friend to me at Timpview, and even though it was several years ago, my memories of her goodness and kind heart remain very strong. My prayers are with all of you and I know that the memory of Liesel will always stay with me and all that she did for me and others for always.

I worked with Leisel and she was the highlight to my day and her smile and her eyes I will never forget them! I have worked with her that last year and half and she was a gift from god to all of us at Lowes. My heart goes to her parents and family and friends at this time. To the Smith family,
You were part of the Riverwoods neighborhood for so long. During that time, nobody was just a neighbor, we were all much closer than that. It is painful to hear that Liesel is no longer with us. She was such a kind-hearted, giving person. May your family draw strength and peace from one another and the Lord at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Liesel has been in my home with my son Chet and she was always pleasant to be around. I too have lost a child but under different circumstances. So, I know your pain. This I know, it may be difficult for Leisel in the next life but there is hope. Do what you can for her here and let our Savior do the rest. Ultimately it is up to him and he is a very merciful God. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

When i heard the new about Liesel my heart was crushed I will miss Liesel so so much she lived and worked with me and i enjoyed every bit of time that i spent with her. I was lucky to have Liesel in my life and its all worth it this pain i feel right now, to have been around her. She made me laugh so so much and always brightened my day. Liesel got me my humor my crazyness and i could and i know others thet met her could just be themselves around her she would not judge and that takes a very special person to do that and she was. My thoughts go out to her family at this time, and i send loving energy to them.

I took liesel for a short flight around Utah Valley and she was one of those people i was glad to take up with me. She was extreamly appreciative and seemed to love flying. I know Liesel through Tierney. Wonderful times I spent around them both. It brings a big smile to my face to think back how much joy she brought people that she spent time around. Heaven opens its door for another wonderful soul.

I'm very sorry for your family's loss. I knew Liesel well in elementary, jr. high, and high school and before the ward split, we were even in Young Women's together. Although my time spent with her seems so long ago, I feel your loss very much and am sad to know she is gone. My prayers will be with you and your family.
