Dear Sarat and kids,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time, the one-year anniversary of Mele's passing. Our hope is that you have the Spirit with you to comfort and strengthen you. We miss her greatly, and are so glad you left her voice on your answering machine! Mele had a way of making people feel welcome and accepted, and we miss that. We miss her laugh, her hugs, her example, and her love.

We just wanted to know that we are here for you and are thinking of you.

Mele you really meant so much to me, you taught me so much. I wasn't able to be there for you Mel but I want you to know how thankful I am for your humble example in my life, you taught me the gift of forgiveness and you never judged me, even in all my imperfections, I want people to know what you meant to me and still mean to me even after your passing from this earth. I miss you Mel and just want you to know that I am so grateful for eveything you have done for me. I will never forget you sis. Ofas, Annie.

I've lost my best friend. It seems like it will be eternity before I will see her again. I will miss so many things in the meantime. I thank God for the time that I did have with her.

Mele, I'm counting on you to watch over me and Sierra Faye...oh yeah, and Drew (it's only Drew!!)

Sarat, Kiki, Junior, Mosa, Noke and None - I love you all. May God bless you and give you the comfort you need. Remember all the good things she taught us.

Families really can be together forever.

To Sarat and Nakita,

I am deeply saddened by the news I just received today about your mother. My heart aches for you at this very difficult time, but you must carry on your mother's legacy, she was extremely proud of her children. The last time I spoke with her, which was sometime last year, she went on and on about how she's truly been blessed with wonderful children, that each of you have brought her so much joy. She mentioned that Nakita's going to be a lawyer because she loved her debate class, and that Sarat was going into the Computer field because he was such a wiz at computers and math, which didn't surprise me at all because you, Sarat, I remember very well at how you excelled in math as a second grader. As for you Nakita, I'm not surprised that debating was your strength because as a second grader, you had such a talent for talking your way in and out of things, you were such a drama queen for a 7 year old. Just keep your mom's dreams alive, you and the rest of your siblings are her legacy. I have no doubt in my mind that you will do her proud.

Love always, your second grade teacher

I like to convey my deepest sympathy and love to Sarat and the family. I pray that all will be well.

I came to Mele’s life in a special way that I would treasure forever. “Mele, my friend and sister, was larger than life.” She was a kindhearted, and an extremely caring person. She was trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, thrifty, brave, and reverent. These superior qualities got her to attain so much out of life. Mele’s love was unconditional love, for not only her family, but for everyone she knew. Her dreams, her ideas, her caring nature and her thoughts are now part of me. You enriched our lives in so many different ways that there aren’t any words to describe it.

I will see you later dear!

Forever love,

There are no words to express the sorrow I have in my heart for the loss of this wonderful daughter of our Heavenly Father. Mele,I never got the chance to tell you,"Thank you for helping me to become the wife, and mother that I am today". I will never forget your kindness and your hospitality. I know I am too late to be able to make up for my mistakes, but I want to say,"I am so very sorry" May the Lord bless your family and keep them safe. You will never be forgotten. I will strive to be as you were once to me. May you rest in peace.

Who can forget those "hana-buddah" days growing up in Laie with Mele, Noe, Tilila and Lupe. What an awesome...fun...loving bunch of girls they were.

Our love and condolences to the Rimal and Funaki Family! We will miss Mele physically but her spirit will live forever. Be of good cheer and be comforted to know that "Families are Forever!"

Lot of love to the Rimal family. I remember coming to Utah for Aki's wedding ('01), I was so excited to meet so many cousins for the first time including Mele Lili. She made us feel Welcome at her home on the night that we had the family Home Evening at her home when we came down. She has a great spirit, her sense of humor and her beautiful smile that I remember well from that short visit.

We Miss Mele Lili. Our,thoughts and prayers with you you all, Sarat and children, Nakita, Sarat Jr., Shishir Mosaia, Staish 'Inoke, and Sione.

'Ofa Lahi Atu,

Tema (& the rest my family Funaki from Tonga they send their love and regard to you all.)

Mele Lili is "one-of-a-kind". She will truly be missed. When I think of Mele, I think of funny - she had a great sense of humor; loving - not so much in words, but in the things she'd do; generous - she'd go an extra mile and a half for family and friends. Mele has done a lot for me and my brothers and sisters. We love you Mele. We know we will see you again as we do what is right. Ofa atu!

What a wonderful woman!!! I have always enjoyed the extra flair she brought to things. Many times we hear the statement "you never know how the little things you do are noticed and appreciated", that fit her. I didn't tell her often enough how wonderful and unique I thought she was.

I adore you Sabin and my heart hurts for you and all of your family.

So many, many fond memories. I remember our days in Provo - I was a college student and Mele was an elementary student - I'd take her with me to watch movies at the Wilkinson Center and I'd tell the lady at the ticket office that I wanted 1 adult ticket and 1 child ticket - she'd look at Mele and said she can't be a child. I said yes she's 10 y.o., and still in elementary school. Mele was a beautiful slender and tall 10 y.o. She was my buddy until they all moved to Hawaii. I can always count on a happy and welcoming reception from her.

We miss you. We will do our part so that we can see you again.

Love,

Aunty Louena
