MURRAY NICHOLS Obituary

Murray Leo Nichols 3/21/1922 ~ 2/11/2011 Our beloved dad, grandpa, and brother Murray Leo Nichols, age 88, died on February 11, 2011, surrounded by his loved ones. Born Murray Leo Loudenback to Arol Wayne Loudenback and Besse Luella Bolton on March 21, 1922, in Wisconsin. His surname was later changed to Nichols after his step-father Clyde R. Nichols. He grew up dairy farming and developed a strong work ethic that lasted throughout his life. He joined the LDS church in 1945 and after serving 18 months in the U. S. Army, he served a three year LDS mission in Japan. Murray married his sweetheart Ann Marie Griffin in the Logan Temple on July 17, 1952. He holds a BS degree from Utah State Agricultural College (now USU) and a graduate degree from BYU. Murray worked at Hill Air Force Base and taught high school in Davis County. Dad's hobby was any project he could do in his yard and gully. On the 2+ acres he owned he built two homes and a duplex next to his original home. He had a great love for missionary work; he and Marie served a one year mission in Oklahoma, and he also served several part-time missions in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. He spent a large part of his later years doing genealogy. Survived by his wife Marie, and eight children: Bruce (Janine), Jane (Dick) Anderson, Marianne (Cal) Springer, Ken (Julie), Wayne (Denise), Natalie Nicolls, Patricia (Joseph) Swenson, Bonnie (Thomas) LeFevre, plus 33 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Murray is also survived by his brothers, Clyde R. (Laris) Nichols, Jr., and Kermit (Lois) Nichols and his sister Elizabeth Nichols. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 12th Ward Chapel, 1039 East Crestwood Road, Kaysville. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. Bonnie - so sorry to see that you lost both your parents in the same week. They were awesome people and so kind. I remember having lots of fun at your house when we would play together. Much love to you and your family at this difficult time.

Dearest Pat,

You know that I never had the opportunity to meet either of your parents but in knowing you and how wonderful you are I have an idea of how awesome your parents were because you are so incredible!
I felt such sadness for you and your family when you father passed and find today that your mother also passed away yesterday evening just hours after your father’s funeral. I know that you must feel at peace in knowing that both of your parents are together. The journey ahead is going to be a challenge for you but you will never be alone. I will continue to remember you all in my prayers and hope comfort will come to you all soon. My deepest sympathy,

We had such a great love and respect for your loving father. He was a man of conviction and integrity. His testimony expressed throughout the years was one cherished by all. He was a faithful husband and church member. We always looked up to your father. He will be greatly missed by all.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Lovingly,
Dave and Jo Ann Klomp
