Hi Shumway Family,
Norm and I entered Congress together in 1979. He was a kind, considerate and principled man. I was very sad to learn of his passing. His life was very well lived. Hopefully, you can take comfort in his many wonderful accomplishments and the knowledge that he was a great citizen of both the U.S. and the world.
Sincerely,
Ken Kramer (CO 5)

Luana, I am so sorry to hear the news. Norm was always such a kind gentle soul, and you guys were such good friends to us in those early years when we were in Stockton. May you have great comfort knowing of the Eternal blessings ahead! Love, Doug Lewis (You may remember that my dear wife Judy passed on in 1992.)

Congressman Shumway was a true leader and best boss anyone could ever ask for. I was blessed to work for him for six weeks while one of his staff members was on maternity leave. Luana and Norm were examples to all who were blessed to know them.
Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Dear Luana and Family,
We are so sorry Norm had to move-on. It truly was a pleasure being together in Massachusetts and we have pictures and memories to treasure. Norm left his autobiography in the ward library there and we enjoyed getting to know him even better through it with his stories of the American delegation preparing to bow to the Queen (because they were all instructed to do so), being entertained at Nancy Pelosi's house, and a hilarious pick-up truck story from his high school days, which I hope is told at his funeral!
We pray for your comfort as you navigate forward missing your dear husband, father and fearless leader. Much love from your old friends.

Luana, our deepest sympathies to you and your family. You both served the Lynnfield Ward so well and were a much needed positive influence on our youth while teaching seminary here. Thank you for that. We so enjoyed having you both in our midst. Remembering you and Norm with love.
