Richard Bybee Obituary

Richard Charles Blake Bybee, 74, passed away October 25, 2015 in South Jordan, Utah. He was born in McGill, Nevada to Fay Bybee and Elna Shellenberger Bybee Anderson. He married Karin Kyle on September 5, 1964 in the Los Angeles Temple.
He graduated from North Torrance High School in California and attended Brigham Young University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Business Administration Degree. His years at BYU were filled with activities such as Freshman Football, singing and playing his trombone.
Dick was called to the Canadian Mission where he was one of the first six French speaking missionaries in Montreal. President Monson was his Mission President. After retirement, he and Karin went on a mission to the Chicago South Mission where they served in the employment arm of Welfare Services. Upon returning, he served two at-home missions working in the real estate division of the church.
After graduation, Dick and Karin moved to Everrett, Washington where he began his career in commercial asset management. This career took him to Newbury Park, Southern California, where they raised their family. He spent many years singing in a semi-professional choir and the Mormon Choir of Southern California. In 1971 he developed kidney disease and was on dialysis for 9 months. His brother, David, then donated one of his kidneys for a transplant. This kidney has lasted over 44 years which must be some kind of record.
As an active member of the LDS Church he had many opportunities to serve, but his favorites were missionary work, home teaching and serving as a temple ordinance worker.
He is survived by his wife, Karin; children: Peter (Gayle Woolsey), Heather Freeborne (Jay), Ariel (Danilo Morillo), Kyle (Katie Grant), Brad (Nicole Sines), Sisters: Diana Anderson, Ariel Bybee and Stephanie Percival: Brother David Bybee and 20 grandchildren.

To the Bybee family,

Please accept our love and sympathy at the death of your husband, father, and grandfather.

We knew Richard when he served with us on the Reunion Village Board of Trustees. He was a man who got things done. He negotiated a contract with Comcast for cable TV for the home owners. He had a lot of experience working with people, and it was a real advantage for Reunion Village. We missed him and his family when they moved.

His was a life well lived. He cared most about his family. May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort at this difficult time.

With Love,

John and Pat Bevan
