ROSS DAVIS Obituary

Ross Jed Davis 1922 ~ 2010 Ross Jed Davis, 87, lifetime resident of Bountiful, UT, passed away January 27, 2010, following complications from several surgeries related to colon cancer. He was born March 1, 1922, at home to Daniel Murray Davis and Chloe Stringham. He graduated from Davis High School, and then he spent three years in the 166th Army Air Force Gun Battalion in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II. He married his sweetheart, Mary Lois Stephens, on January 30, 1948. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Ross' family was always his first priority and the source of his most profound joy. He worked for 20 years in the wholesale phonograph record industry. Ross truly enjoyed associating with the various recording artists and sales representatives of RCA Records. He was employed for another 16 years in wholesale large and small appliance sales. After his retirement, Ross received much satisfaction applying his artistic skills to fine china painting, orchid horticulture, gardening and traveling. Ross was very active in the LDS Church fulfilling numerous assignments and took pleasure in the service of others. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his three sons, Gregory Davis (Cathy), Douglas Davis (Susan) and Rodney Davis (Jeffrey); eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Chloe Gordon and Dorene Pandolfi; and brother, Steven Davis. Funeral services will be Monday February 8, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 21st Ward (2000 South Orchard Drive). A viewing will be held Sunday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary (295 No. Main, Bountiful), and an hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com

As I sat in the Chapel waiting for the funeral to begin, I couldn't help remember the many times that Ross shared flower/plant starts from his infamous gardens with me, even when we moved--how I appreciated those experiences! I must say that I felt like his granddaughter who shared about him digging up the plants for her and sharing gardening tips. He knew I was excited for the starts. I also thoroughly enjoyed the glimpses into his life that were shared. A great tribute was paid to him--memorable relationships that have impacted so many. Thank you to all the family for rubbing shoulders with me and touching the lives of our family. We wish you a speedy recovery, Mary. We extend our love and prayers for you and your family. Much love, Gloria Vance

I wish I were there with all of my dear family today. Mary, Greg, Doug and Rod please know how much I love you and how much I loved my Uncle Ross. In my book he was as close to perfect as we mortals can get. Mother, Dorene and Steven may thoughts are with you too. Hope to see you all soon. Love, Joy
