Sherie Lynn Anderson Olsen
April 17, 1945 – December 3, 2025
Salt Lake City, Utah-Sherie Lynn Anderson Olsen (80), of
Salt Lake City, Utah passed away at her home on December 3, 2025, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 17, 1945 to Dee and Chelta Anderson in
Salt Lake City, Utah, Sherie grew up in Salt Lake City and Ephriam, UT. She graduated from East High School, and attended the University of Utah, where she met and later married Michael Wade Olsen in the Salt Lake Temple in 1967.
During her 58 years of marriage, Sherie was actively involved in her church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), her community, and the family business – Dee's, Inc. (Dee's Family Restaurants).
Sherie's first years of marriage were spent in Ogden and Holladay – eventually settling in Salt Lake City in the Monument Park Ward. In 1979, she and Mike moved to Hoytsville, where they built a home and enjoyed the country life. After 23 years and wanting to be closer to family, she moved back to Salt Lake City into the Tall Oaks community. In each of these areas, she made life-long friends and became a staple in the community.
Sherie had a passion for animals and gardens. At one time, she had over 30 cats, a couple dogs, some horses, cows, and some sheep. She was a pet lover, whether her own, neighbors, or strays. It was an often-told joke, that we all wanted to come back as one of Sherie's cats. Another love was gardening. She had a green thumb for all to envy and she spent hours in her yard with the flowers and trees making her space in the world beautiful. Sherie also loved the holidays, with Christmas her favorite – her lights and decorations were a joy to the senses and a favorite for all. Sherie also had a talent for needlepoint. She would spend hours with her art creating pillows, wall hangings, Christmas stockings, etc.
Sherie loved being a wife and mother and doted on her children and grandchildren – this even involved bribery with candy and secret handshakes! She volunteered as a Den Mother, was a 4-H cake-decorating instructor, took the young women and young men to Lake Powell, helped with the Hoytsville Golf & Country Club, was on landscape committees, and on and on.
Sherie was also a friend to all. Everyone who knew her remarked on her smile and on her honest joy in seeing you.
As much as Sherie loved Salt Lake, she loved her home-away-from-home: Maui. Lying on the beach, watching the whales, and asking the grandkids to get popcorn, drinks, or chocolate monkeys were some favorite winters. She often joked she must have Hawaiian ancestry due to her love of the islands.
After her husband suddenly passed in 2024, Sherie maintained a positive attitude with everyone. And after her diagnosis in mid-2025, she kept her sense of humor and kind demeanor all through her cancer journey.
Sherie is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Olsen; parents, Dee and Chelta Anderson; sister, Lohree Nielsen; brother, Greg Anderson; son-in-law, Kelly Gold; and parents-in-law, Cleon and Nola Olsen. She is survived by children, Todd Olsen; Jill Gold; Wade (Jessica) Olsen; grandsons: Wyatt Gold; Jackson, Daniel, Luke, and Henry Olsen; and brother, Wes Anderson.
