Tommy Baker Obituary

Tommy Eugene Baker (Tom) 1952 ~ 2008 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend passed into God's loving embrace on Sept. 12, after a courageous year long battle with cancer. He never gave up his fight despite many setbacks. He often said, "Cancer picked the wrong guy to mess with!" The world will miss this honorable man.Born Feb. 19, 1952 to Jerry and Gloria Rogers Baker. He grew up in Salt Lake, but his true home was in his beloved Bountiful. Tom was a respected real estate broker with Maple Hills Realty. He loved his "family" there. He was an avid golfer, and made many dear friends in both real estate and golf. He was a very devoted, unselfish friend to all, and usually gave up his free time to help someone in need. He gave freely without asking for anything in return. Those who knew him were truly blessed. Our thanks go out for all the help and love shown to Tom and our family. He loved his family first and foremost. He married his soul mate Marsha McGee on June 8th, 1974. He was so proud of his kids and grandson for all their accomplishments. Brooke is a Zoologist, and T.J. is an Analytical Chemist. His grandson Carter was the love of his life. He loved them all unconditionally. He is survived by: wife Marsha, daughter Brooke Baker, son T.J., daughter-in-law Danielle Baker, and grandson Carter T. Baker ("Little Man"). Father Jerry (Nita), mother Gloria Baker. Brothers: Ronnie (Sue), Troy (Patty), Randy (Robyn) and stepsisters Carla (Mike), Debbie (Larry), Lora (Rick), and stepbrother Rick. He had many, many nieces, nephews and friends whom he dearly loved and who loved him in return. The family wishes to express gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital along with the University of Utah Hospital and staff for the loving care given to him throughout this journey. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to be made in Tom's name to the Huntsman Cancer Research or Stand Up To Cancer, so that we can find a cure for this disease. Funeral services will be held at the Bountiful Hills Ward House on Tues., Sept. 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. Friends may call Mon. from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and again from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guestbook at russonmortuary.com

I have to say I am proud to have been able to call Tom a friend. Tom was one the most kind and sincere people I have known. He always had a kind word and was a joy to talk to. Tom was the type of person who brought out the best in others. That is what I will remember most about him. My thoughts are with you, I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

I apologize I will not be at the services as I will be out of town on business.
