Travis Badger Obituary

"Buckaroo"
May 10, 1989 ~ March 30, 2016

Midvale, UT-"Learn this well... the last ride is never the last ride and the end is not the end."
After 3 daughters Karl and Cindie Badger enthusiastically welcomed their only son Travis Karl Badger into the world on May 10, 1989. His father affectionately gave his son the nickname "Buckaroo".
Travis embodied that nickname for his entire 26 years on this earth. He was never happier than when he was riding a horse, packing, wading to a duck blind or hunting. Often saying "I never feel closer to God than when I'm on the mountain."
Travis was the epitome of a true cowboy: a thoughtful son, strong brother, fiercely loyal friend, and loving husband. He attended and graduated Woods Cross High School in 2007. From 2008-2010 he faithfully served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Carlsbad California. Travis had a strong testimony of the gospel and of Jesus Christ. His humble manner and authentic spirit spoke to and converted many to the church.
Travis married Chelsea Earl whom he loved greatly on August 2, 2014 for time and all eternity in the Bountiful, Utah Temple. Travis's service to his fellow man extended beyond his mission. Whether it was helping a stranger shoe a horse or spending hours digging out a pickup truck Travis was always there to extend a helping hand. His desire to help others inspired him to obtain his EMT license in July of 2015; he was scheduled to attend Fire Academy later this Spring.
Happy Trails our Buckaroo, until we meet again.
Travis is survived by his wife, Chelsea Earl Badger, his parents Karl and Cindie Badger, his siblings, Codie (Travis) Massey, Whitney Badger, and Lindsey (Robby) Nelsen. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Corbin Nelsen, Lucy Massey, Belva Nelsen, Johnny Massey, and Lavera Nelsen. And the Earl Family.
A viewing will be held Wednesday April 6, 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Springwood Ward Chapel 165 West Monarch Drive, Bountiful, Utah 84010 and again one hour prior to funeral services at 10:00 am. Funeral April 7 11:00 am at Springwood Ward Chapel, 165 West Monarch Drive, Bountiful, Utah 84010.

To Karl, Cindy, and family,
Sundy and I went to the viewing yesterday. We looked at Travis's pictures as a little boy, when we were all in Eaglewood Ward. I remember him as being this happy handsome young man. Going on scout camp outs with Karl. Everyone's man's man. And the great neighbors you all were and are. Then seeing Travis's missionary pictures. What a happy handsome missionary. The pictures are so typical of young active, enthusiastic, happy missionaries. We've lost touch with your family for a number of years, but seeing the pictures then seeing Travis in the casket, just took the wind out of me. I cannot express how it made me feel. How much sorrow you all must feel. You guys are have always been great examples, neighbors, and friends. We send our sincere condolences and love for you all. Thank heaven that we have the Gospel plan and a loving Father in Heaven that we can look forward to being together as eternal families.

We love the Badger family very much. We lived for years near them in NSL, Utah. They are so kind, so loving, so faithful, so wonderful. Our prayers are with you all at this time of loss. Although life brings each of us loss and heartache, the Gospel brings us hope, which grows into understanding and joy. I look forward to seeing dear Travis again. (Rom. 12:12.)
Love,
Chris and Robin Barden and family

Heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise found at 1 Thessalonians 4:14 will bring you comfort. Knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be reassuring.

I have had the honor and privilege to be the badger family outfitter and guide in Wyoming, Karl and Travis are the dearest of friends, on one of are hunts we were riding home at sunset after a day of hunting the sky opened up to the most magical of sunsets that lasted for a long time as we rode no one talked we were all just mesmerized by the event. That is how Travis was when in the wilds totally embracing the horses the mountains and the wildlife. Travis never complained when it was cold or we were sore he just wanted more. A meadow that Travis was able to harvest and Wyoming bull elk will be named after Travis all of my guides and hunters will know this meadow as Travis Badger meadow. I will miss Travis looking forward to meeting him again at the lord saviors feet.

For years Cindie would refer to Travis as "her little boy" even after Travis grew up. I will miss Cindie's little boy. I love you, Cindie. You are my forever friend.

The world has lost a very fine young man. I always enjoyed interacting with Travis. He always had something clever to say and had a smile on his face. Ken Bement

Travis and the Badger family entered my life around 1994, they quickly became part of my ranch family. I spent 16 years watching them grow up. Such a tragic loss. My heart goes out to the entire family. Love you all.
