Virginia Piz Obituary

Virginia Constance Piz
1926 - 2012
Virginia Constance Piz was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming, in 1926, to Celestina Inama and John Baptista Piz. She lived there until the second grade when her family moved to Ogden. They later moved to Provo, and finally settled in Salt Lake in 1938. She was a founding member of St. Ambrose Parish, and when she married Richard DeMarco in 1948, theirs was the first wedding to be held in the newly established Parish. She was a long-time member of the '49ers
She worked for the IRS during WWII until 1953, and shared many amusing stories about her time there. She volunteered for many years in the office of J. E. Cosgriff Memorial School.
She loved working in her rose garden, creating flower arrangements, playing Bingo, going to Wendover, and searching for treasures at yard sales and antique stores; but she loved her family best.
Virginia passed away peacefully on August 30, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; two children, Rick (LuAnn) of Wendover, Nevada; and Carolyn (Harry), Salt Lake City. Also her four beloved grandchildren: Chelsea, Jonathan, Travis, and Michael. Preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ernie.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ambrose, 1995 South 2300 East, on Friday, September 7th at 3:00p.m. where friends may call one hour prior. Private burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hoofbeats to Healing care of Straighter Way Foundation at any Desert 1st Credit Union.
Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.starksfuneral.com
