1913 ~ 2014
Zane passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Sandy. Zane was born 10 July 1913 in Cannonville, Garfield Co., Utah to Joseph Edward Asay and Susan Sariah Johnson Asay. He moved from Cannonville at age seven in a covered wagon to Price, Utah where he grew up. He graduated from the 8th grade, worked in various coal mines in Carbon County; he later moved to the Uintah Basin; he found he had a talent for repairing automobiles and carpentry work, and many other talents. If it needed fixing Johnny could fix it. He married Mattie Mildred Nielsen "Millie" in 1932 in Provo; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death. Their children are: Roene (Philip-dec.) Hollingsworth, Josephine (Arvil) Bird, Zane LaVell (Sherry) Asay, Joseph Melvin (Marilyn) Asay, Mildred Colleen Asay-dec., Fred (Sandra) Asay.
After Millie died he married Virga Bartholomew Page in 1971 in Roosevelt. She preceded him in death. With this marriage came children: Glen Page (dec.), JoAnn Page Evans, Carol Page Tooke, Kathleen Page Powell, Alice Page Madsen, Gwen Page, Robert Page.
After Virga died he married Janice Fox Sorensen Asay in 1989 in St. George. With this marriage came Shelie Sorensen Jackson, KellieAnn Sorensen Fryer, Scott Sorensen, Kreg Asay, Karl Asay, Arlyn Asay (dec.), Alan Asay, David Asay, Dale Asay, Grant Asay, Ellen Asay.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in bishopric, high councils, elders quorum, home teacher, ordinance worker in the Provo and St. George Temples. He enjoyed three missions; Samoa, Atlanta Georgia Temple, Employment Specialist Mission in Roosevelt.
His posterity is numerous with 24 children, 74 grandchildren, 164 great-grandchildren, and 46 great-great-grandchildren (at last count); he was predeceased by three children and eight siblings. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Mount Jordan 2nd Ward Chapel, 9331 South 300 East, Sandy, Utah. Friends may call at the church, Thursday, from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m., prior to services. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014 at Roosevelt Memorial Park, 33 W Highway 40, Roosevelt, Utah. Condolences may be sent online at www.bergmortuary.com.

Uncle Johnny was a good man. Joan and I enjoyed so much visiting him and Jan when we were in Utah. Our grandchildren really love the hats he knitted for them. He lived a very good life.

Just found out about Johnny. Such a good man. So sorry, Jan. Wish we could be there, but we have to attend my aunts funeral the same time in Wayne Co. Just know we love you and you will be in our prayers. God Bless.
