CARLOS KENNY MAESTAS

CARLOS K. MAESTAS 1957-2012 Carlos, known as Kenny, was called to be with God on Nov. 7, 2012, after suffering through a long illness. A lifelong Barstow resident, Kenny was known as helpful, generous and talented with his hands. His spare time was spent tinkering, creating and building. He enjoyed spending time in the vast desert area around Barstow and in the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico. Kenny spent many years working construction-type jobs in the High Desert. He also was employed at solar plants in Daggett and Harper Dry Lake, Del Taco, a chemical plant in Trona, Ca., and as a handyman. Kenny accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He never met a person he wasn't willing to help in some way. He was born Carlos Kenneth Maestas on Feb. 16, 1957, in Apple Valley, Ca. He is survived by his daughter, Marissa, and son-in-law, Raul, and grandson, Raul III, known as "JuJu;" Marissa's mother, Patricia; sisters Dornella Bernal and Pam Hill and husband Mike; brothers Larry and wife Linda, Andy and wife Marilyn, and youngest brother Kevin; and "adopted" sister Revonda Parker. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Lucille. Services will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Barstow, Ca. The Rosary begins at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass. Kenny's remains will be taken to New Mexico. Donations to help cover expenses should be made to Andy Maestas.
