ALICE J. (OTTO) COWAN CUNNINGHAM

Alice J. (Otto) Cowan Cunningham, 86, of Des Moines went home to be with Jesus on August 12, 2009 at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Berean Assembly of God Church with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home.
Alice was born on September 1, 1922 to Roy and Goldie Otto, the oldest of 13 children. She loved to travel, play guitar, play piano and sing and enjoyed crafts and time spent with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She retired from Dahl's where she had worked in the deli for twelve years and had been a member of the Church of Victory, pastored by her brother Don Otto.
She is survived by her son Bill (Linda) Cowan of Des Moines, her brothers Lawrence Otto of Des Moines, Edward Otto of Murray and Victor Otto of Grinnell, her sisters Betty Mauk of Des Moines, Rosemary Fenton of Leon and Margaret Epps of LeClede, Missouri, her grandchildren Staci (Jeff) Gooder of Carlisle and Michelle Cowan (John) of Port Isabel, Texas as well as six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Goldie Otto, her brothers Roy and Don and sisters Vera and Beverly.
Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Health Hospice in memory of Alice.
