Bert William Stone was born in the Bronx, NY, on August 1, 1921, and passed away August 9, 2012.
Bert served in the US Army in WWII as a First Sergeant and was decorated with two purple hearts, a silver and bronze star for his bravery.
Prior to that, he met Paula G. Stone, the love of his life. They were married in January 1946, and the union lasted 61 years.
Bert leaves behind his beloved daughter, Carolyn Lawrence; son-in-law, Duane; grandson, Elliott; and his dear sister, Elaine Saetta of Boyton Beach, FL.
Bert will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and son. He was a huge Yankee fan.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 24 from 4 to 6 p.m., at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd., Clive.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bickford Cottage for their wonderful care of Bert during his stay in Iowa.
