BETTY JEANNE (ROBY) WILLIAMS
Des Moines
Heaven gained an angel on February 13, when Betty Jeanne (Roby) Williams, 88 years old, of Des Moines, slipped from the arms of her family.
Betty retired in 1985 after teaching 29 years at the Truro Elementary School and at the Interstate-35 School District. Betty was proud to tell people she began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse, and cared very much about her students. Betty made sure that any stray cats or dogs (squirrels and birds, too) that came to her house had food and water. Betty also loved baseball and butterflies.
Betty is survived by her daughter Sherry Williams; sons Gary Williams and Rick Williams; granddaughter Sherry Lynn Williams; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Summer Jeanne Williams. Betty's family will go on, with heavy hearts.
Per Betty's instructions, she will be cremated and there will be no planned services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League.
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly. In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
