A memorial service and military honors for Brian Harpster, 52, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery located near the community of Van Meter, Iowa (Interstate 80, Exit 113). Survivors include his wife, Catherine Harpster of Jefferson, other relatives and friends. Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home of Jefferson is assisting the family. 515-386-2171.

Brian touched so many lives spanning many years. My daughter Whitney has wonderful memories of her time at Harpsters Homeroom. He will be missed.

"Harpster" as we knew him was a truly wonderful man and had such a positive influence on so many kids. Our family is forever grateful. Both our kids went to Harpster's Homeroom and have made lifelong friendships through their time there. Thank you Brian...we miss you.

I worked with Brian at Swanson Elementary before he started Harpsters Homeroom, he was loved by staff and adored by students. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
