Charmaine Kaye Gilbert, 58 passed away October 16 after a short battle with cancer. Char was born July 16, 1953 in Fort Myers FL. Char was a 1985 Iowa State University graduate and earned a Master of Social Work from Florida State University. She moved to California in 1986 to work at the LA Veterans Administration. Char returned to Iowa in 2001 and lived in the Knoxville area working at the Veterans Hospital. In June 2010 she moved to Arkansas to be near her Daddy.

Most people will remember Char for her outgoing personality, love for family and friends, and the good times at Dugan's Deli in Ames.

Char is survived by her father Bryan, brother Brad, and sister-in-law Jessica and preceded in death by her mother June and soul mate Kento.

At her request, Char's ashes will be scattered in AR and IA.

Char, it's been darn good to know you.

I knew Charmaine in Naples, Florida. She was an unbelievable person with an incredible sense of humor. I loved her. We laughed. Yes, we did. We laughed. I lost touch 40 years ago but always thought of her. I'm sure she touched many lives.

Kathy and I were saddened to learn of the death of Char. She was a wonderful person who spent her entire life helping others. It's been thirty years, but I still remember how much fun we all had dancing to "Rosalita" at the farmhouse.
The Char memories are many and we think of her often.
