Claude Dawson Obituary
Des Moines - Claude "Butch" Dawson, Jr. was born in Des Moines on January 29, 1939, the son of Lois and Claude Dawson, Sr. He passed away on April 8, 2021, at 82 years old.
Butch retired as a Senior Vice President from Central National Bank after more than 30 years of service. He finished his working career at Collectamania. Butch enjoyed fishing, dirty jokes, antiquing, and taking care of his family.
Butch is survived by his children, Kris Sherman and David Dawson; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Ryan) Schmitt; sisters, Helen (Craig) Nash and Sande (Steve) Matchinsky; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra and his sister, Betty Potter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions will be received by the family and later directed to a cause close to his heart.
