Colleen M. Mitchell, 59, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
Colleen was born April 20, 1950 in Bremerton, Washington to Arnold and Peggy Mitchell. The family moved to Des Moines in 1964. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had worked for Link Associates. For the past five years Colleen has flourished living in a supported group home for independent living. She enjoyed attending Easter Seals Life Club, swimming, shopping and going out to eat.
Survivors include her siblings: Sue (Jerry) Wieland of De Pere, WI, Kelly Anderson of Concord, NC, Michael (Andrea) Mitchell of Des Moines; and her nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Grandview Park Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals.
