Dallas Center
David Bejarno, 58, left us peacefully Thursday, February 26, 2009, surrounded by family at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2009, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Dallas Center.
Dave was born in Des Moines to Joaquin and Josephine Bejarno. He grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Dowling High School in 1968. Dave married Deb Bebensee in 1977. They resided in the Highland Park area before they moved to Grimes and eventually settled in Dallas Center. Dave was employed by AMF Manufacturing and EMCO (Andersen Windows).
Dave's passion was raising his three sons. He spent many hours at the ball field as a coach and fan and was supportive in all of their endeavors. Dave was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deb; his sons, Tim (Jill) Bejarno, of Collins, Joe Bejarno and Marco (Betsy) Bejarno, both of Dallas Center; grandchildren, Zach, Justine, Lily, Zara and Jaxton; his parents, Joaquin and Josephine Bejarno, of Des Moines; and his sisters, Christine Brower, Catherine (Jim) Leaf and Sophia (Scott) Winters, all of Des Moines and his brother, Tony (Lisa) Bejarno, of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vince Bejarno.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at St. Boniface Church where a vigil and rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
