Dick Howell, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Dick was born on September 24, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska to Fern and Edward Howell. He served in the U.S. Navy. He married Deanna McVay on October 10, 1958. James was a salesman for Overhead Door for 23 years. His most precious love was spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Dick will be missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Deanna Howell; sons, Tim Howell, Marty (Allison) Howell; daughter, Kathy Ackelson; grandchildren, Beth Howell, Ashley Howell, Jenny (Joey) Braafhart, Jessie Ackelson, Nicole Ackelson, Brandi Howell, Kelsey Bodensteiner, Kara Bodensteiner; great-grandchildren, Riley Braafhart, Kinnick Brown, Noah Howell, and Brianne Braafhart; brothers, Jack (Marlene) and Bob Howell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Howell.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Home Healthcare Hospice. Online condolences may be sent to www.IlesCares.com.
