Donald Jones Obituary
Des Moines - Donald L. Jones, 63, passed away January 13, 2021.
Don was born July 21, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa to LaVerne Jones and Margie (Reed) Wingfield.
He was a Past Master 33rd Degree Mason at Daylight Lodge #660. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Research Society, the Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, the Des Moines York Rite Bodies, Royal Order of Scotland, IA Research Lodge #2, and the Royal Order of Jesters. Don worked for ADM for over 32 years and had a passion for playing the guitar. He performed in many local bands in the 70's and 80's.
He is survived by his sister, Melissa Wingfield; step-mother, Colleen Jones-Kenagy; step-sisters, Terri Denger and Sherri Larimer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne Jones and Margie Wingfield; and step-father, John L'Estrange.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. For those unable to attend in person, the family invites you to join them virtually through the link in his obituary found on Hamilton's website.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Don for a cause close to his heart.

The best guitar player that ever graced this state with his talent. He will be sorely missed.I loved playing my keyboard in a band with him. He made us all better musicians.

Sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with all of you during this time of difficulty. We knew Donald as a fellow Shriner. Remember him as a great friend, masonic brother and noble. Know he will be missed by all.
