Jewell
Doris Rude, age 88, formerly of Jewell, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Burial will follow at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Visitation is Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. Memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell or Hospice of Hamilton County, Iowa.
Doris Annette Rose was born on September 16, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to George and Agnes (Isaccson) Rose. After graduating from East High School, she graduated from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines.
On October 18, 1947, Doris married Wayne Rude, who preceded her in death in 1988. Doris practiced nursing in this area for 40 years. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, a Girl Scout Leader, a mentor at the local school, , volunteer at Bethany Manor and taught Sunday School. During World War II Doris was a member of the Cadet Nursing School.
She is survived by five children, Ada Tjernagel, George Rude, Timothy Rude, Michael Rude and Thomas Rude; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas Rude, three brothers and one sister.
In 1990 she married John R. Bell who preceded her in death in 1993.

"dad" & Donna, I am so sorry to hear of Gma Rude's passing. I remember going down to visit her with Jen. We had SUCH a wonderful time with her and left STUFFED! =) Here we are years later and her kindness still sticks out as a wonderful memory for me. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.
