Fred Marsh Obituary
Ankeny - Dr. Fred Charles Marsh, 63, passed away April 12, 2021. Fred was a physician for 37 years in family practice in the state of Iowa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Celebration of Life starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny (520 NW 36th St). Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021, also at the church.
Fred is survived by his children, Kelsi (Greg) Spurgeon, Kirby Marsh, and Korey (Andrea) Marsh; grandchildren, Olivia and William Spurgeon; and sister, Judith Devereaux.

I loved you. I was sorry when you joined MD VIP as I couldn't justify the cost. I lost you as a doctor but I never lost you as a friend. The last time we saw each other you asked me if I would be willing to swap vehicles for a weekend. I'm sorry that I didn't take you up on that. You were a huge impact on my life. God Bless you Fred.

Dr. Marsh was my family doctor and a mentor while I was in nursing school. Dr. Marsh was very supportive when my son Alex Gilchrist passed. I will never forget his care for my son Alex and my daughter Kaitlyn. My condolences to his family.

Fred was a very caring person. His parents and my parents were good friends. He made a special trip from Ankeny to Council Bluffs to attend my dad's funeral, to represent his dad who had already passed. I went to high school with him, where he excelled. I've heard nothing but good things of him as a caring physician

Fred was a man of many talents and interests. He was a friend, neighbor and physician who ministered to 4 generations of our family. We will miss his quirky sense of humor, and our discussions about making the ultimate pie crust! Such a tremendous amount of pride and joy when he spoke of his family.

Fred was a colleague and friend. Unfortunately I hadn’t seen him in the past two years but I always loved catching up with him. He always had a steadfast sense of calm and serenity with a vast amount of wisdom. My sincere condolences to his whole family.

Our sincerest sympathy to all of the family. Dr. Marsh was an amazing family doctor for us and filled a big pair of shoes when Dr. Gray retired and passed us on with great confidence!! We have felt lost these past few months without him to call on. We and our 4 (now grown) children were blessed with his genuine care for as long as he practiced in Ankeny (and that's been quite a few!). We, like I'm sure many others, felt a special bond of trust and friendship even though we were his patients. He was definitely a gem to be treasured. May God give you peace and comfort now and in the days and years ahead. He was a man blessed by God to help heal and comfort others during his time on earth. He did it well!!
