Fred Wright Obituary
Des Moines
Fred Irwin Wright, 84, passed peacefully from this life on November 19, 2011. Fred was born July 12, 1927, to Richard Redman and Helen Maureen (Irwin) Wright. He attended Stowe Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and was a Des Moines East High School graduate.
Fred served his country in Korea during the U.S. occupation following World War II. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he attended Drake University in Des Moines, graduating with honors. He taught school for a year in Polk City before beginning his career with Bankers Life, now the Principal Financial Group.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Redman Wright, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Wright; sons, John (Donita) Wright of Bondurant, Peter "Pete" (Norma) Wright of Des Moines, and Andrew (Stephanie Franzwa) Wright of Des Moines; granddaughters, Katelyn, Jacklyn, Sara, and Kayla Wright; great-grandchildren, Haileigh Wright, Brandon Brown, and Jaxsen Losee; his sister, Violet Washburn of Charlotte, NC; and a sister-in-law, Nadine Wright of Vinton, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the East Side Library in Des Moines.

I worked with Fred for many years at Bankers He was always willing to help solve problems and answer question. I enjoyed his humor and smile. I am sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you.

I am fortunate to be able to say that I had the pleasure of working with Fred while we were both with The Bankers Life. He was an energetic person that was very engaging no matter what the situation or the discussion. I enjoyed his personality and his willingness to help others be better people. He never turned away any question, and always made sure his answers were clear and understood. I appreciated him tremendously. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and all of his friends.
